If a rank booster logged into your League of Legends account and you can no longer sign in, start with Riot’s Account Recovery Tool. If it does not restore access, submit a Riot Support ticket. Getting access back and getting a boosting penalty removed are separate matters: Riot’s recovery process cannot recover permanently banned accounts, and support does not guarantee a resolution when an account violated its Terms of Service.
First, identify whether this is an access problem or a penalty
Use the path that matches what you see. Account recovery is for lost access or suspected changes to account details; it is not an appeal of a suspension or ban.

If there is no sign that anyone changed the account, check that you are using the right Riot account and credentials, and check Riot service status before treating a sign-in failure as a takeover.

- Go to Riot’s Recover Your Account page and use the Account Recovery Tool for forgotten credentials or suspected compromise.
- Enter accurate information requested by the current form. Fields and interface wording can change, so follow the prompts rather than relying on an old checklist.
- If the tool does not work, use Riot’s support ticket route linked from its recovery page. Riot describes the tool as the fastest recovery option and the ticket as the fallback; a ticket is not a promise of recovery.
Do not ask the boosting service or a third-party “recovery” seller to regain control. Riot warns against sharing login details; only enter credentials on Riot’s authentication domain, authenticate.riotgames.com.

Gather details that can establish account ownership
Riot Support may ask for information tied to the account’s original creation or use. Provide only truthful details you know; do not guess or invent records.
- The account email address and date of birth associated with it.
- Any social sign-in account connected to the Riot account.
- The approximate account creation date and the city, province or state, and country where it was created.
- A Riot or app-store transaction ID. Look for Riot email receipts or purchase history in Google Play or Apple services.
Riot may request additional information. Its locked-out guidance says review does not guarantee a solution when the account violates the Terms of Service, so ownership evidence should not be treated as assurance that an enforcement action will be lifted.

Be direct about the boosting service
Riot defines MMR boosting as another player logging into an account to play a ranked match. Its policy says a ranked match played by someone other than the account’s original creator may be considered boosting, and both the booster and boostee can be penalized. Account sharing is also identified by Riot as a violation of its rules.

Know what Riot lists as boosting penalties
Riot’s MMR / Elo Boosting – Rank Manipulation policy, published May 24, 2026, lists these possible outcomes for MMR boosting:
- A League of Legends account suspension lasting 14–180 days, depending on severity and frequency.
- Honor reduced to level 0.
- Exclusion from current-season ranked rewards.
- A permanent League of Legends ban for a second offense.
These are policy outcomes, not a prediction of what will happen in an individual case. Riot’s recovery guidance says permanently banned accounts cannot be recovered through the recovery process. A separate policy detail applies to duoing with a confirmed scripter: Riot lists a six-month suspension for that circumstance; it is not the same as the ordinary boosting penalty list.

Secure the account after access is restored
- Secure the linked email first. Change its password if it may have been exposed, review recovery settings and active sessions, and enable the email provider’s available security protections.
- Change the Riot password. Use a strong, unique password that you do not use on other sites. Riot recommends password managers as one way to create and manage unique passwords.
- Verify the account email and enable multi-factor authentication. Riot says MFA can use Riot Mobile or account email. Email verification features and requirements may vary by region; its May 22, 2026 FAQ describes mandatory verification as rolling out across regions.
- Review account activity. Check for unauthorized purchases, changes to the account name or other details, and unexpected activity. Riot says it can help investigate unauthorized purchases after account recovery.
- Check your device if credentials may have been captured. If you suspect malware or a keylogger, run Windows Security or another trusted antivirus scan before signing in again.
Riot says it can make necessary account adjustments without asking for your password. Never send it in a ticket, email, chat, or to a booster.
