If a 24/7 aarti broadcast stops after YouTube loses the encoder feed, check the stream’s health in YouTube Studio, confirm the encoder is using the correct YouTube server URL and current stream key, then restart the encoder and verify that YouTube receives the feed. A key error, encoder crash, or network interruption needs a different fix; use the checks below to identify which one occurred before changing settings.
Restore the incoming feed first
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Select the affected stream and check its preview and stream-health messages. These indicate whether YouTube is receiving an incoming feed and may point to the problem. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health during a broadcast (YouTube encoder settings and stream health).
- Check the encoder’s destination and key. The encoder needs the correct YouTube server URL and the current stream key. YouTube describes the key as a credential used by the encoder to send the feed; the server URL tells it where to send that feed (Manage live stream settings; Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
- Re-copy the key if the encoder reports a key or start error. In Live Control Room, copy the stream key for the intended broadcast and replace the one saved in the encoder. If the key was reset, the encoder must be updated with the new one (Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream). Keep the key private: it functions like a password for sending to your stream.
- Start the encoder’s send and watch for YouTube to receive it. Confirm that the preview or status in Live Control Room changes to show an incoming feed. Starting the encoder sends video; whether a separate action is needed to make the broadcast public depends on the stream’s setup and Live Control Room workflow (YouTube encoder setup; stream health guidance).
- If it still will not connect, check the URL, protocol, and network. Make sure the server URL is exact and the encoder supports the configured protocol. For RTMPS connection or SSL errors, check YouTube’s RTMPS guidance; it documents port 443 as a possible troubleshooting setting for certain SSL errors (Encrypt your stream using RTMPS).
YouTube’s setup instruction is direct: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.”
Diagnose the failure by symptom

Check encoder settings and upload capacity
For a stream that reconnects but remains unstable, inspect bitrate, resolution, frame rate, and keyframe interval in the encoder. YouTube publishes bitrate ranges by codec and resolution, so choose the recommendation matching the actual output rather than treating one number as universal. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds (Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions).

Measure available upload capacity while the connection is under realistic load. YouTube recommends keeping total stream bitrate at or below 80% of available upload bandwidth, leaving 20% headroom (Streaming tips). If a primary and backup encoder might send simultaneously during failover, account for both feeds in that capacity planning. A wired Ethernet connection can remove some Wi-Fi variability, but changing cables will not correct a wrong key, destination URL, or encoder setting.

Reduce the chance of another interruption
- Keep the destination and key documented securely. Verify the selected stream before going live, and store the current key only in the encoder or a private credential manager.
- Monitor YouTube’s incoming stream status. During the broadcast, check Live Control Room health messages rather than assuming the encoder’s local “live” indicator means YouTube is receiving video.
- Test failover deliberately. Follow YouTube’s suggested test: interrupt the primary encoder or its Ethernet connection, then verify that the player rolls to the backup. Do this before depending on it for an important devotional broadcast.
- Plan live continuity separately from the recording. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that a 24/7 stream with an interruption and reconnection will become one seamless archive or preserve every viewer’s playback position. Check the intended broadcast and archive behavior in Studio and arrange separate recording or continuity measures if needed (YouTube encoder setup).
