Joona Linna books in order
This is the series sequence, not a list sorted by publication year. Google Play’s Joona Linna catalogue numbers the sequence, and Bonnier Books identifies The Sleepwalker as the tenth book.
| Book | Title |
|---|---|
| 1 | The Hypnotist |
| 2 | The Nightmare |
| 3 | The Fire Witness |
| 4 | The Sandman |
| 5 | Stalker |
| 6 | The Rabbit Hunter |
| 7 | Lazarus |
| 8 | The Mirror Man |
| 9 | The Spider |
| 10 | The Sleepwalker |
For a new reader, begin with The Hypnotist. Bonnier says the series debuted with that novel in 2009. The sequence above is supported by the Google Play Books Joona Linna series listing; the official Lars Kepler books page also labels the works as Joona Linna series novels.

Why read the novels in series order?
The numbered list gives you the straightforward progression of the Joona Linna series. There is no competing canon order identified in the cited listings, so reading from Book 1 forward is the simplest choice if you want to follow the series as presented.

Publication dates and editions
There is no single reliable year column for all ten English titles in the cited listings. The Swedish originals, English translations and releases in other formats or markets can have different dates. Bonnier’s 2024 annual report gives 2009 as the debut year of The Hypnotist, but it does not establish a complete, edition-specific date list for every English title. Check the publisher record for the territory, language and format you plan to read rather than treating differing dates as contradictions.
Who is Lars Kepler?
Lars Kepler is the pen name shared by Swedish writers Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril, according to Penguin Random House and the Norwegian publisher Cappelen Damm. Penguin Random House reports that the Joona Linna series has sold more than twenty million copies in forty languages; its author page does not state when that total was measured.

Choosing a format
Print, ebook and audiobook availability varies by title and market. For example, Cappelen Damm’s Norwegian catalogue lists different formats across the series, but that does not mean every book is available in every format or country. Confirm the language, edition and format on the relevant publisher or retailer listing before buying.
