To hide an AI Overview from the Google results you’re viewing, run your search and select Web in the results filter row. If Web isn’t visible, open More and choose it. Google says this view shows text-based links without features such as AI Overviews; it is a workaround for that results view, not a permanent switch to disable AI Overviews across Search.
Show text links instead of an AI Overview
- Open Google Search and run your query.
- In the filter row on the results page, select Web. If you don’t see it, select More, then choose Web.
Google describes the Web filter as a way to see text-based links without features such as AI Overviews. The filter row’s contents and placement can vary with the interface. Google Search Help: Find information in faster & easier ways with AI Overviews in Google Search
Can you turn off AI Overviews permanently?
Google’s help page describes AI Overviews as a core Search feature and says, “Features cannot be turned off.” It does not document a permanent account-wide setting to remove standard AI Overviews. The Web filter changes the results view you’re using; it is not a global opt-out.
What the Search Labs toggle controls
Google separately documents a Search Labs setting called AI in Search. On desktop, while signed in and not using Incognito, open Labs, choose Manage, and switch off AI in Search to opt out of those experiments. Google’s instructions describe this as controlling Labs experiments, not as a way to disable standard AI Overviews.

How to send feedback about an overview
To report a particular overview, use the thumbs-down control at its bottom, choose Report a problem, add details, and submit. Google says feedback helps improve AI Overviews; it does not promise that a report will remove the feature or change what appears in future searches.
Check important information from more than one source
Google cautions that AI responses may include mistakes and recommends checking important information in more than one place. If an overview is inaccurate or unhelpful, you can use the feedback control above; use the Web filter when you want a text-link results view.
