To install a SIM in a Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, use a nano-SIM, turn the phone off, release the SIM tray with an ejector tool, place the card in its matching recess with the gold contacts facing down, and gently slide the tray back in. Check your exact model’s guide first: tray location and layout can vary by regional version.
Check your SIM size and phone model
The cited Galaxy A14 5G A146 user manual specifies a nano-SIM. Do not trim a larger SIM or force a card into the tray; its shape and clipped corner should fit the matching recess. Samsung provides regional support materials, so check the model number and carrier or regional guide if your phone’s tray looks different. The A146 manual and Samsung’s regional support page are useful starting points.
Install the SIM card
- Turn off the phone. Verizon advises powering the A14 5G off before inserting or removing a SIM, to avoid possible harm to the SIM or device. See Verizon’s A14 5G SIM guide.
- Locate and release the tray. With the screen facing you, Verizon’s guide places the tray on the upper-left edge. Insert the SIM ejector or removal tool straight into the small tray hole, then pull the tray out gently. Use the exact model guide if the location differs.
- Seat the nano-SIM. Fit it into the matching tray recess, aligning the clipped corner. In the cited A146 manual, the gold contacts face down. The card should sit flat without force.
- Reinsert the tray. Slide it straight back in gently until fully seated. If your tray has a separate microSD position and you want to add storage, use only the designated section shown in your model’s manual; the microSD card is optional.
- Turn on the phone and check service. Whether it connects depends on your carrier and service. If the phone does not recognize the card or connect, confirm that the SIM is seated correctly, then contact your carrier about activation or service.
Why your A14 5G tray may look different
Samsung’s support materials cover regional A14 variants, and the available sources do not establish that every version has the same tray location, arrangement, or single- versus dual-SIM capability. Some documentation describes a tray that also accommodates a microSD card, but do not assume that configuration applies to your phone. Use the model number, carrier, and current regional manual to verify the card positions before inserting anything.

If the phone does not recognize the SIM
- Power the phone off and check that the card matches the tray shape and sits flat, with its contacts oriented as shown in the correct model guide.
- Make sure the tray is fully and gently reinserted; do not force it if it catches.
- If the card is seated properly but service is unavailable, ask the carrier to confirm that the SIM is active and that service is available for your account and location. The cited guides do not provide a complete troubleshooting procedure.
