To print from a Samsung Galaxy phone to a Canon printer, connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network, then print through Canon PRINT or a compatible Android print service. The right option depends on your exact Canon model: Canon PRINT and Canon Print Service do not support every Canon printer.
Before you print
- Connect the Canon printer to your local Wi-Fi network using the setup instructions for its exact model.
- Connect the Galaxy phone to that same network. The devices usually need to be on the same local network for the phone to discover the printer.
- Choose a printing route that supports your Canon model. Check the model’s Canon support page, since compatibility and available features vary by printer and region.
Samsung notes that many compatible printers may work without a downloaded plugin. On your phone, open Settings and search for “Printing” to see the available services and enable one. Menu labels and locations can vary by Galaxy model and software version. Samsung’s Galaxy printing instructions explain the general setup.
Choose a printing method

Do not install every Canon printing app. The consumer app and Canon’s business printing tools serve different product lines; use the app or service Canon specifies for your printer.

- Make sure the printer and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and the printer is ready.
- Open the document or photo in an app that supports printing. Some apps provide Share > Print; others place Print in their own menu.
- Tap Select printer and choose the Canon printer. If it is missing, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
- Open the print settings or arrow if shown. Review options available for that printer and app, such as paper size, color, and orientation.
- Tap Print. The options shown depend on the app, phone, and printer; not every app supports printing. For printing from inside Canon PRINT, select the compatible printer and the photo or document in the app.

If your Canon printer does not appear
- Check the connection. Confirm the printer is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi, then check that the phone is on the same local network. A phone connected to a different Wi-Fi network may not discover it.
- Check the print service. In Settings, search for “Printing” and confirm the service you intend to use is enabled. Verify that the service supports your exact Canon model.
- Refresh Wi-Fi discovery. Turn the phone’s Wi-Fi off and back on, then try selecting the printer again. Canon recommends this step when discovery still fails after checking the network connection. Canon Print Service FAQ.
- Try manual discovery if available. Some compatible services let you add a printer by its IP address. Use the printer’s network information and the manual-add option in the service, if offered.
- Check printer network settings. Confirm the printer remains connected to the intended network and consult Canon’s instructions for its model. Discovery problems can stem from the printer’s network configuration as well as the phone.
Samsung’s US guide mentions Bluetooth as a check during scanning in some interfaces. Network printing is generally Wi-Fi-based, so enable Bluetooth if your Galaxy prompts you to do so rather than treating it as a universal requirement.

Canon’s name alone does not identify compatible ink or toner, supported paper sizes, or media types. Find the model number on the printer or in its settings, then use the corresponding Canon support page to check supplies and printing specifications. Before loading paper, confirm the selected size and media type are supported by that model. Canon’s Print Service information describes print settings, but the printer’s own specifications determine which media it accepts.
