Prepare a rights-cleared playlist, enable YouTube Live ahead of time, connect an encoder, and test the complete program before making it public. For a 24/7 Hindi devotional stream, also plan monitoring and recovery—and do not rely on YouTube to create one complete replay: a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all.
1. Prepare the devotional program and clear its rights
Start by listing every element in the planned stream: bhajans, mantras, kirtan, spoken introductions, recordings, artwork, deity imagery, video footage, and transitions. For each item, record who owns it, what permission or license covers it, which territories it applies to, whether it permits livestreaming on YouTube, and any conditions.
A devotional purpose does not make a song, recording, image, or video free to use. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to hold the necessary rights for use on Google services, including applicable music rights. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and obtain the rights holder’s terms or qualified local advice if a specific asset’s permission is unclear.

2. Enable live streaming and create the event
- Check channel eligibility: the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction during the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Enable Live early: first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until launch day. YouTube explains the setup in its encoder livestream guide.
- Create or schedule the stream: in YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and set the event’s title, description, visibility, and schedule. Check the event details before sending viewers to it.
- Protect the stream key: YouTube describes the key as the password/address that lets an encoder send the feed. Keep it private, and use the key associated with the intended event.
3. Choose how to keep the stream running
YouTube documents software encoders running on a computer and standalone hardware encoders. It also maintains a verified-encoder directory; YouTube says listed products are not made by YouTube, and listing is not an endorsement. The directory includes Gyre as a cloud-based service for 24/7 livestreaming of prerecorded videos.

For any route, decide who receives alerts and what to do after a network, power, encoder, or rights interruption. Local encoding depends on the local computer, power, and network; hosted services have different operational dependencies. No route removes the creator’s responsibility to use cleared content.

4. Configure the encoder and test the real program
YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Its current encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance documents RTMP/RTMPS; H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate encoding; and frame rates up to 60 fps.

There is no single bitrate that suits every setup. Ensure stable upload bandwidth for the selected settings.
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds.
- Audio and motion: test representative devotional audio and moving video, not just a static opening screen. Listen for missing, distorted, or uneven audio and check that picture and sound remain in sync.
- Full playlist: as a practical precaution, play through the full playlist and test the planned recovery procedure before launch. This is operational advice, not a YouTube reliability guarantee.
YouTube’s setup tips advise preparing the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Run an upload speed test, inspect the Live Control Room preview, and resolve any stream-health messages before announcing the event.

5. Monitor the live stream and respond to problems
During the stream, check the public watch page as well as the encoder and Live Control Room. Confirm that audio is present and at a suitable level, video is moving rather than frozen, the stream-health indicator is acceptable, and the playlist advances. YouTube’s setup guidance recommends checking access from channel or watch pages and mobile devices, and continuously monitoring audio and video quality.
- No preview or stream: check that the encoder is sending to the correct event with its current stream key, and review the encoder’s connection status and Live Control Room messages.
- Buffering or poor stream health: test upload speed and stability, then lower the selected resolution or bitrate to a level the connection can sustain. Use YouTube’s resolution- and codec-specific bitrate table rather than a generic preset.
- No or poor audio: verify the encoder’s audio input, selected audio track, AAC or MP3 configuration, and levels; listen to the preview or public page.
- Frozen or interrupted video: inspect the source playlist, encoder, computer or hardware, power, and network. Follow the restart plan you tested; a successful restart is not a substitute for monitoring.
- Rights warning: identify the matched content and address it promptly. YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated.
6. Plan archives separately from 24/7 viewing
YouTube says a stream shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and recommends keeping a local archive backup. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. A continuous 24/7 watch stream therefore does not guarantee one intact replay. If viewers need replayable sessions, plan separate sessions below 12 hours or record locally, then check the archive after each session ends. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

7. Understand copyright and monetization risks
Live copyright checks and channel allowlisting
YouTube scans all live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. A license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption: YouTube says a creator with a license should ask the rights owner to add the channel to the owner’s Content ID allowlist. Archived streams may also receive Content ID claims after the live broadcast ends. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Attribution, a purchased copy, permission for a different use, or the religious character of a program does not automatically grant livestream rights. The necessary permissions depend on the actual assets, territories, and license terms.

Monetization is a separate review
YouTube’s channel monetization policies call for original and authentic content and say repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. Reused content is reviewed at channel level; permission alone does not settle that separate question. Meaningful original commentary, substantive changes, or educational or entertainment value can matter, while minimally varied templates or repetitive compilations can be problematic. A devotional topic or continuous loop does not guarantee monetization.
