As of October 3, 2026, early access is live for eligible Premium Edition buyers and Game Pass members who add the Premium Upgrade. The worldwide launch is October 6 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific (15:00 UTC), when Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can play without the upgrade.
You can play on Xbox Series X|S or Windows PC, using the Xbox/Microsoft Store or Steam on PC. Choose Xbox or Microsoft Store if you want Xbox Play Anywhere access and shared progression between console and PC; Steam is a separate PC purchase.

Choose where you’ll play
Xbox’s product page lists the game for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The official launch announcement also lists Steam as a platform. Use the route that matches your device and how you want to buy the game:

The Coalition’s October 1 launch announcement names Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and cloud gaming through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. Cloud availability can vary by region and service terms, so check the provider’s current listing for your location.

Decide between buying and Game Pass
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include the game starting October 6, 2026. If you have either subscription, you can play through its eligible Xbox or PC app at launch. Before then, the route identified for Game Pass members is the Premium Upgrade, which provides early access.
If you prefer a purchase, the Xbox product page captured for this guide listed Standard Edition at US$69.99, Premium Edition at US$99.99, and a US$30 Premium Upgrade for Standard owners. Those are US page prices and may change; check your regional storefront before paying.

Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade provide up to five days of early access. Premium also includes the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five seasonal customization packs beginning with the Emergence Pack, and 1,000 Iron. Those extras are not required to play the game.

Know what Play Anywhere does—and does not—cover
Xbox says Play Anywhere allows play across Xbox Series X|S and PC with shared progression and achievements. This applies to the Xbox ecosystem purchase or entitlement. Steam is listed separately, so do not assume a Steam purchase grants an Xbox copy or shares the same entitlement. Check the specific purchase page before buying if access on both Xbox console and PC matters to you.

Play with friends across platforms
The Xbox product page describes a solo campaign, two-player split-screen co-op on console, and online co-op for up to four players. It also lists Horde Siege PvE and Versus PvP. Xbox lists Game Pass Essential or higher as the multiplayer requirement at launch; that is separate from the Ultimate or PC Game Pass entitlement that includes the game itself.
Steam players can play without linking an Xbox account. To send cross-platform squad invitations, however, the official Gears FAQ says to link one from the in-game social pane using “Link Account.”

Xbox Wire published a final PC specifications announcement on September 17, 2026, and updated its specifications image on September 28. The CPU, GPU, memory, and storage values are presented in that image rather than readable article text, so consult the current image in the official PC specifications post before deciding whether your PC meets the launch requirements.
The August beta FAQ advised using an SSD and current graphics drivers, and said HDDs were unsupported for the beta, where they could contribute to loading, asset, stuttering, or crash problems. That is beta guidance, not a substitute for the final launch requirements.

Optional physical editions and extras
You do not need a special controller, book, or collector set to play. The Collector’s Edition announcement describes Xbox Series X and Steam versions, with the Xbox version including a physical disc, statue, replica COG tags, replica photograph, art print, and other items. Quantities are limited and availability varies by region.
