To hear backing music and your voice through car speakers at the same time, use a karaoke system that mixes both signals and sends them to the car stereo—or a head unit with a documented karaoke input. A regular Bluetooth connection from your phone to the car does not necessarily route a separate microphone into the music. The simplest supported setup uses a karaoke microphone system with an FM transmitter: the phone connects to the transmitter over Bluetooth, the microphone plugs into it, and the car radio receives both over FM.
Choose a connection that carries both music and microphone audio
The key is signal routing: the microphone system or stereo must accept the music and voice together, then send the combined audio to the car speakers. Pairing a phone to ordinary car Bluetooth may play the music without incorporating a separate microphone.

Before choosing, check whether your car has FM radio or AUX, whether the microphone system outputs a mix of music and voice, and whether FM delay or interference would be a problem. Check the stereo and microphone manuals for supported connections and input types.

Set up a karaoke system that uses an FM transmitter
- Park and set up the equipment. Turn on the car stereo and plug the transmitter into the vehicle’s 12V socket if the system uses one.
- Match the FM frequency. Choose a frequency with no broadcast and set both the transmitter and car radio to it. If you hear a station or interference, try another unused frequency supported by the device.
- Connect the music source. Pair your phone with the transmitter over Bluetooth, then start a song or backing track.
- Connect the microphone. For the Streetwize SWSING1, plug the microphone into the transmitter with the supplied AUX cable. Its manual says this connection switches the system into karaoke mode, after which music and microphone audio play through the car speakers.
- Set comfortable levels. Adjust the microphone and car audio volume. If the music drops when you sing, check whether the system’s voice-cut feature is enabled.
In this arrangement, Bluetooth carries music from the phone to the transmitter; the microphone connects to that transmitter by cable; and FM carries the combined audio from the transmitter to the car radio.

Use AUX or a karaoke-capable head unit when supported
Microphone system with line out and car AUX
If the karaoke system has a line-out connection and your car stereo has AUX, connect them using the cable and ports specified by their manuals. Singing Machine lists an AUX connection as an option for its CPK545. If FM introduces noticeable vocal delay, try AUX if both devices support this route.
Do not assume that every car AUX jack accepts a microphone directly. AUX is often a line-level audio input, and a microphone may need a karaoke system to mix or amplify its signal before it reaches the stereo. Confirm that the microphone system’s output carries both voice and backing music.

Head unit with karaoke mode
Some head units provide a specific microphone input and karaoke mode. In Pioneer’s documented example, the user connects a compatible dynamic microphone to the specified input, selects microphone input, and enables karaoke mode. The exact port, microphone type, and menu labels depend on the head-unit model; follow its manual rather than treating this as a universal feature.

Fix common sound problems
- No sound from the car speakers: For an FM setup, verify that the radio and transmitter are tuned to the same frequency. Check that the car audio and microphone are not muted and that their levels are raised.
- Weak or noisy FM audio: Select another unused frequency supported by the transmitter and retune the car radio to match.
- Your voice arrives late: Try a supported AUX connection instead of FM. This only helps if the karaoke system and car stereo both support a suitable wired route.
- Echo or howling: Move the microphone farther from the car speakers and lower its volume if needed.
- Music gets quieter when you sing: Check whether voice cut is enabled. On the Streetwize SWSING1, this feature lowers music while the user speaks or sings.
- The car AUX connection does not pick up the microphone: Check the stereo and karaoke-system manuals. The AUX jack may not accept a microphone signal directly; the system may need a line-out that already carries the mixed audio.
Keep karaoke to a parked vehicle or passengers
Set up and use the microphone only while parked, or have a passenger operate the equipment. Singing into a microphone or operating controls while driving can distract the driver. Pioneer’s manual explicitly warns drivers not to sing with a microphone while driving.
