To permanently delete your Discord account, open User Settings > My Account on desktop or in a browser, or Settings > Account on mobile, then choose Delete Account. First transfer ownership of every server you own or delete those servers. Discord keeps the account recoverable for 15 days after you confirm; restore it during that window to cancel deletion. Afterward, Discord says deletion cannot be reversed.
Before deleting: protect your data and resolve server ownership
- Transfer or delete your servers. Discord requires you to resolve ownership of every server you own before it will let you delete your account. A server can continue under a new owner, so transfer ownership if it should remain available.
- Request a data package if you want a copy. Discord says a package can include account information, message transcripts, and other account data, and may take up to 30 days to arrive. Deleting or disabling your account before the download link arrives cancels the request. Discord says the link remains active for 30 days. Request a copy of your Discord data.
- Remove specific content yourself first. Deleting your account does not guarantee that messages or other content shared with people disappear. Discord says shared content may remain visible without being tied to your account. Delete particular messages or content while you still have access if you want those items removed. Delete your Discord account on desktop or in a browser
- Open Discord and select the cogwheel to open User Settings.
- Select My Account, then choose Delete Account at the bottom of the page.
- If you own any servers, transfer ownership or delete them. Return to My Account and select Delete Account again.
- Enter your account password. Complete multi-factor authentication if Discord prompts you.
- Confirm the deletion. Discord logs you out and begins the pending-deletion period.
Delete your Discord account on mobile
- Tap your profile avatar to open your profile or settings, then tap the gear icon if needed.
- Choose Account and scroll to Delete Account.
- Before continuing, transfer ownership of every server you own or delete those servers.
- Return to Account, tap Delete Account again, and enter your password. Complete multi-factor authentication if prompted.
- Confirm the deletion.
Discord can change its interface labels or layout, but the deletion option is under My Account on desktop/browser and Account on mobile.
What happens after you confirm deletion?
The account is recoverable for 15 days
Discord’s user-facing deletion guide says your account remains in a pending-deletion state for 15 days from confirmation. If you change your mind, restore the account during that period to cancel deletion. Once the period ends, Discord says the deletion cannot be reversed. You lose access to Discord services and purchases
Discord says deletion removes access to servers, direct messages, group messages, and purchases. Its guide also says Nitro and Server Boost subscriptions are cancelled.

Shared messages may remain visible
Discord says deletion anonymizes your account across servers and messages, but content you shared with other users may continue to be retained and displayed without being tied to your account. The company’s retention guidance says it typically holds an account for 15 to 30 days for recovery before beginning to delete identifying information and anonymize or aggregate other information. It says removing identifying information from backups can take up to 45 days after that hold period, subject to longer retention exceptions. Those retention timelines are separate from the 15-day user-facing restoration window.
Delete or temporarily disable your account?

Do not confuse your deletion with inactivity-based deletion
Discord says accounts unused for two years or more may be scheduled for deletion. If Discord has notified you that your account is at risk due to inactivity, logging into the website or app can prevent that process. This is separate from deliberately starting account deletion.
