If you mean YouTube Premium, you can pay with UPI when the Google Play checkout for your India-based account offers it. Select UPI, approve the payment in a supported UPI app, and—if the subscription uses recurring billing—review and approve the UPI AutoPay mandate. A “24/7 streaming service” is not a YouTube billing product: Premium does not buy access to a particular livestream. A channel membership is separate and has its own checkout and perks.
First, identify what you want to pay for
- YouTube Premium: A YouTube subscription. New Android subscribers to YouTube Premium and Music Premium have been billed through Google Play since 2022; the billing platform for an existing account may differ. Check your membership details or payment records to confirm it.
- A channel membership: A recurring payment for perks from one particular channel. It is separate from Premium, and UPI is not established as an option for every channel membership checkout.
- A channel that streams 24/7: The livestream itself is not a YouTube subscription called a “24/7 streaming service.” Paying for Premium does not grant access to a specific stream.
Payment methods depend on country and billing platform. The steps below apply to eligible India accounts and Google Play checkout; rely on the options shown for your account rather than assuming every checkout supports UPI. Google Play’s India payment-methods help describes UPI for app subscriptions, including recurring UPI AutoPay through a mandate.

Pay for YouTube Premium with UPI
- Sign in to the intended Google account. Confirm that it is the account whose YouTube membership you want to manage, and that its country and payment profile are India. Payment options can vary by country.
- Open the Premium offer and choose a plan shown for your account. The plan and price can depend on the account and billing context, so check the amount displayed at checkout rather than relying on a universal price.
- Inspect the checkout methods. If Google Play checkout offers UPI, select Pay with UPI, choose a supported UPI app, and approve the displayed request. Google’s 15 November 2022 UPI AutoPay announcement describes the flow: select the payment method in the cart, choose “Pay with UPI,” then approve the purchase in a supported UPI app.
- Read the mandate before approving recurring billing. Check its amount, frequency, and duration. UPI AutoPay authorizes scheduled future payments under the mandate; it does not make a recurring subscription a one-time purchase. Google says the mandate can specify amount, frequency, or duration.
- Verify that the membership is active. Return to YouTube and check Purchases and memberships or Paid memberships. Review the payment method and next billing date in the membership details.
If you mean a channel membership on a live channel
Use Join on the channel only if you want that channel’s membership perks. Before confirming, check the price, renewal terms, and payment method displayed in that membership’s checkout. YouTube describes channel memberships as monthly recurring charges, generally billed at the start of each billing cycle; whether UPI is offered depends on the checkout available to you. - UPI is not listed: Check whether the purchase is billed through Google Play or another platform, and use only a payment method actually offered in that checkout. Availability is not guaranteed for every platform or membership.
- The AutoPay mandate will not approve: Make sure you are using a supported UPI app and follow the approval prompts. Google Play requires an eligible AutoPay mandate for recurring UPI subscriptions.
- YouTube requests payment verification: Follow the account prompts to verify or re-enter payment details. YouTube notes that RBI eMandate requirements can trigger verification, and your bank may not support recurring charges. See YouTube’s payment-verification help.
- Later debits stop or fail: Check the mandate status and billing platform, then confirm with your bank that recurring charges are supported. If the checkout offers another method, you can choose one of those instead.
- It is late at night or a holiday: NPCI says UPI payments are instant and available 24/7, but that general availability does not guarantee that a particular YouTube checkout, bank, app, or recurring mandate will be available or succeed at every hour. See the NPCI UPI FAQ.
Google Play’s India help page also lists cards and Google Play balance as payment categories; it says RuPay cards are for one-time purchases only. It states that netbanking was discontinued as a Google Play payment method from October 2025 until further notice. These options can change, so check the current checkout and help page for your account.
