To connect Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones to a laptop, first put the headphones into pairing mode using the instructions for your exact model, then add them from Windows Bluetooth settings or macOS Bluetooth settings. After pairing, select the headphones as the laptop’s audio output; a Bluetooth connection alone may not route sound to them.
Before you start
- Charge or power on the headphones and keep them near the laptop while pairing.
- Find the headphone model name and check its manual for the pairing-mode button sequence and confirmation light or sound. Sennheiser’s computer instructions defer this step to the product manual; button holds and indicators can differ between models. See Sennheiser Hearing Support.
- If the laptop has connected to these headphones before, be ready to remove its saved pairing and set the headphones back into pairing mode.
Connect them to a Windows laptop
- Put the headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode using their model-specific instructions.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth.
- Select the Sennheiser headphones when their name appears and follow any on-screen prompts.
- If an old pairing is saved, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices, select the old headphone entry, choose Remove device, then repeat the pairing steps.
- If the headphones do not appear in Windows 11, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Bluetooth Devices Discovery and change discovery from Basic to Advanced.

Connect them to a Mac
- Set the headphones to pairing mode using the instructions for your model.
- Open Apple menu > System Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on.
- Choose the discoverable Sennheiser headphones in the device list and click Connect.
- If you need to clear a previous connection, open Bluetooth settings, choose Forget for the headphones, then put them back into pairing mode and connect again.

Choose the headphones for listening and calls
Bluetooth pairing and audio routing are separate. If the headphones show as connected but sound still comes from the laptop, open its sound settings and choose the Sennheiser device as the output.

On Windows
Open Sound settings and choose the headphones for playback. Windows may show separate Headphones and Headset options. Sennheiser recommends Headphones as the default playback device for listening. If you need the headphone microphone for calls, choose Headset as the default communications recording device.
On a Mac
Open System Settings > Sound. Choose the headphones under Output to listen, or under Input to use the headset microphone.

Fix common pairing and audio problems
The headphones do not appear in the device list
- Confirm they are charged, powered on, and actively in their model’s Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Remove an old laptop pairing, if one exists, and try discovery again.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on, or restart the laptop, then retry pairing.
- On Windows 11, switch Bluetooth device discovery from Basic to Advanced as described above.
You removed the pairing but cannot reconnect
Clear old or duplicate entries from the laptop, including separate Headphones/Headset or LE/Classic entries if they appear. Put the headphones back into model-specific pairing mode and select them again. If that does not work, power-cycle both devices and retry. Sennheiser’s pairing-recovery guidance, updated 14 April 2026, recommends clearing saved connections and re-entering pairing mode.
The headphones connect, but there is no sound
- Check that the laptop reports the headphones as connected and select them as the sound output.
- Check volume on both the laptop and the headphones.
- Test the headphones with another device. If they work there, the laptop’s connection or sound settings are the likelier place to investigate.

Calls or notifications interrupt music
Communications audio and notifications can interrupt streaming. On Windows, check that playback uses the Headphones device and that the Headset recording device is selected only when its microphone is needed. If notifications are the source of frequent interruptions, reduce or disable them.
The audio drops out intermittently
Move away from other Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi routers, and metal objects. A phone in a pocket or your body blocking the signal can also contribute. Compare playback with a phone or tablet to help distinguish a laptop-side problem from a headphone-side one.

A device entry includes “LE”
On some systems, a Bluetooth LE entry is separate from the audio connection. Sennheiser says this LE link is for Smart Control app settings; audio uses Bluetooth Classic or another audio path. Select the regular headphone audio connection and check the laptop’s output setting. See Sennheiser’s explanation of LE Bluetooth entries, updated 1 July 2026.

If the laptop has no usable Bluetooth
If built-in Bluetooth is unavailable or unusable, the optional Sennheiser BTD 600 USB Bluetooth dongle is designed to connect to a PC or Mac, search for Bluetooth headphones in pairing mode, and save the headphone pairing profile for reconnection. It is not needed when the laptop’s built-in Bluetooth works. Consult the BTD 600 instruction manual for its setup steps.
When to contact Sennheiser support
If pairing still fails, note the headphone model, laptop model, firmware and software versions, and any recent changes before contacting Sennheiser support. These details can help narrow down whether the issue is with the headphones, computer, or their configuration.
