Create a dated playlist on your church’s YouTube channel, add the month’s published service videos, and arrange them in the order viewers should watch. One important distinction: a regular YouTube playlist is an on-demand collection, not a nonstop live broadcast. If you need one continuous live page, you need a separate livestream workflow.

Make a monthly playlist of church services

  1. Publish the recordings first. Confirm that each service video is uploaded to the church’s YouTube channel and available at the visibility level you intend. Finish publishing any remaining videos before assembling the playlist.
  2. Create a playlist. In YouTube or YouTube Studio, create a playlist and give it a clear title that includes the month and year, such as “Sunday Services — October 2026.” In the description, state the date range and what kind of services it contains. YouTube’s playlist instructions cover creating playlists, setting visibility, adding videos, and reordering them.
  3. Choose who can view it. Set the playlist’s visibility to match its intended audience. A public playlist is viewable by everyone; a private playlist limits viewing to its owner. Check the setting before sharing the link.
  4. Add the month’s videos. Add each relevant service recording, then arrange the videos chronologically or in the viewing sequence that best serves your congregation. Keep the dates easy to identify in the video titles and thumbnails.
  5. Check the viewer experience. Open the playlist while signed out or in a separate account. Confirm that the videos and their order are visible as intended, and that the titles and thumbnails make the service dates clear. This is a useful check, not a YouTube requirement.
  6. Decide what happens at month end. Keep the playlist as a dated archive, or update its description and membership if you want a rolling “latest month” collection. Consistent month-and-year titles make older archives easier to find.

A playlist is not a nonstop livestream

A YouTube playlist gathers videos for viewers to select and watch on demand. The playlist steps above do not turn the channel into a continuous live broadcast or create one unattended 24/7 live page. YouTube documents livestreaming as a separate workflow in its live-streaming guide.

Choose the format that matches the congregation’s needs: use a monthly playlist when people should find and replay individual services; consider a continuous livestream when they should watch one ongoing live page. A continuous broadcast needs a system that supplies a continuing audiovisual feed, and the church must test and monitor its own setup. The platform documentation does not establish that a playlist can provide this or guarantee uninterrupted operation.

Keep the archive organized and representative

YouTube recommends publishing a livestream archive for on-demand viewing and creating a live archive playlist to feature on the channel homepage. That lets viewers find completed broadcasts separately from a current live page. Use titles and descriptions that accurately describe the videos: YouTube’s Community Guidelines prohibit playlists whose titles or descriptions mislead viewers about their contents.

Check music and recording rights before sharing or rebroadcasting

Review the rights for music and other third-party material captured in every recording before making the videos public or using them in a livestream. YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content; a stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even when a church has a licence, the rights owner may need to allowlist its channel through Content ID. YouTube also says Content ID claims for archived live streams are made after the stream ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

Licensing depends on the territory, repertoire, recording, and use. For example, Church of England guidance describes CCLI Streaming Licence coverage for live worship music performed in streams in its stated context and discusses One Licence for additional church and choral repertoire. It also says commercially available CDs or recordings cannot be played without specific permission. This is UK and Church of England context, not universal legal advice or confirmation that a particular church’s music is covered. Check the actual terms and permissions for your church, territory, songs, recordings, and intended use.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you need a continuous YouTube broadcast rather than a monthly on-demand archive, StreamNeo is a cloud option for looping uploaded recordings and playlists. Upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream runs from the cloud. StreamNeo plays uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. It is for uploaded videos, not a camera feed, and streams to YouTube. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free first day.
