To take apart a Logitech G502, first identify the exact version: the steps below cover the wired G502 Hero and wireless G502 Lightspeed, not every G502 generation. Unplug the Hero or switch off the Lightspeed, then remove its adhesive feet to reach the underside screws. Work slowly when releasing the shell clips; prying too hard can break them.
Before you start: confirm the G502 version
Check the label on the mouse or its packaging and match it to the model-specific guide. The two procedures here differ in screw length and power handling. Do not assume these steps apply to another G502 model.

Tools and preparation
- Phillips precision screwdriver.
- Plastic opening pick or spudger for releasing the shell clips.
- Soft cloth to protect the mouse while it is on your work surface.
- Isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth if you need to clean adhesive residue or fit replacement feet.
Adhesive feet cover access to the underside screws. They can bend, tear, or detach from their adhesive when removed, so have replacement feet compatible with your exact G502 version available if preserving the originals matters. The Hero feet replacement guide describes removing residue, cleaning the recess with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth, and letting it dry before applying new feet.

How to open the wired G502 Hero
- Unplug the mouse and place it on a soft cloth. iFixit’s G502 Hero opening guide begins with this precaution.
- Carefully warm the adhesive feet, then peel them up to uncover the screws. Avoid pulling abruptly; the feet may bend or tear.
- Remove the four 5.5 mm Phillips screws beneath the feet.
- Work a plastic pick or spudger between the shell halves to release the clips. The front clips can be difficult to release; ease the tool around the seam and do not force it, since excessive prying can break a clip.
- Once the clips are free, separate the shell carefully. Stop if a connection or component is still holding the halves together rather than pulling them apart.
How to open the wireless G502 Lightspeed
- Switch the mouse off before you begin and keep it off throughout the opening process.
- Loosen the adhesive beneath the feet before peeling them up. Take care not to bend or tear them.
- Remove the weight hatch, then take out the four 5.4 mm Phillips screws beneath the feet.
- Use a plastic pick or spudger to release the base clips carefully.
- Hinge the top shell open rather than pulling it away. Disconnect the battery as shown in the iFixit G502 Lightspeed opening guide.
After opening: clean or continue only as needed
For cleaning, remove visible debris without forcing tools against delicate parts or pulling on internal connections. If adhesive remains in the foot recesses, scrape it away gently, clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth, and let it dry before fitting compatible replacement feet.
Opening the shell is not the same as replacing a switch. The Lightspeed switch replacement guide proceeds to further disconnections, additional screws, and soldering. Those steps are not needed just to open the mouse for basic access or cleaning. Do not continue into component replacement unless that is the repair you intend and you are equipped for it.
