To make songs in a nonstop Indian music stream sound more consistent, measure each complete song’s perceived loudness in LUFS and apply the same deliberate loudness-normalization process. Then listen to the rendered sequence: matching integrated loudness does not make every chorus, intro, or quiet passage equally loud, and a meter cannot judge whether a transition feels smooth.
There is no LUFS mastering target established here as an official YouTube requirement. Treat the often-cited broadcast reference as just that—not a YouTube or Indian-music-specific target—and choose a working level by listening to your finished programme.
Peak normalization and loudness normalization do different jobs
Peak normalization moves a track’s highest sample peak to a selected level in dBFS. It is useful for setting peak headroom, but it does not compare how loud different songs seem. Two tracks with the same peak can have very different perceived loudness.
Loudness normalization measures perceived loudness in LUFS and applies gain toward a chosen target. It can help songs sit at a more comparable average level, but it does not make every moment equally loud or decide what target suits your programme. LUFS uses a perceptual model; Audacity’s explanation describes its K-weighting approach.
#1 Best Overall
- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
| Operation | What it changes | Useful for | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak normalization | Sets the highest sample peak to a selected dBFS level. | Managing peak level and leaving headroom. | It does not make songs with different dynamics equally loud to listeners. Audacity Normalize manual |
| Loudness normalization | Measures perceived loudness in LUFS and applies gain toward a target. | Bringing whole songs toward a comparable average loudness. | It does not equalize every section or guarantee a smooth transition. Audacity Loudness Normalisation manual |
| Dynamic range processing | Changes the relationship between quieter and louder sections. | Situations where the source’s internal dynamics need deliberate adjustment. | It is not simply a whole-song gain change; it can alter musical dynamics and should be auditioned. FFmpeg filter documentation |
Prepare the continuous programme before normalizing
Choose audio files you are legally allowed to use, settle the song order, and make the intended transitions before the final loudness pass. For a nonstop programme, both individual songs and the rendered sequence matter: fades, intros, silence, and transitions can change what listeners experience even when each song has a similar integrated reading.
- Keep source files and a working project so you can revise an individual track without rebuilding everything.
- Decide where fades, crossfades, or deliberate pauses belong before judging loudness across transitions.
- Do not assume an integrated value describes the loudness of every verse, chorus, or instrumental break.
Measure and normalize songs in Audacity
- Open the project and select the song or track. Work with complete songs for a comparable measurement; include the intended beginning and ending rather than measuring only a loud excerpt.
- Open Effect → Volume and compression → Loudness Normalization. Audacity’s effect measures perceived loudness and applies a gain change toward the target you enter. Its manual identifies −23 LUFS as the default and explains that it is an EBU R 128 broadcast reference, not a YouTube recommendation. See the Audacity effect documentation.
- Choose a consistent working target for your own programme. Use the same approach across songs, then listen and refine where a track still feels out of place. The European Broadcasting Union’s EBU R 128 gives −23 LUFS as an average programme loudness recommendation for broadcast; that 2014 standard is not evidence of a required target for YouTube or Indian music. EBU R 128.
- Keep ordinary stereo channels linked. Leave “Normalize stereo channels independently” off for typical stereo music. Audacity warns that independently normalizing left and right can change stereo balance. Use independent treatment only when the channels are genuinely separate recordings that need correction.
- Export with peak headroom. Audacity’s separate peak Normalize effect defaults to a −1 dB peak target; its manual says −1 dB rather than 0 dB leaves headroom that is safer before lossy encoding. This is a peak-headroom example, not a LUFS target. Audacity Normalize manual.
- Render the full sequence and listen through it. Check every transition and compare sections at an ordinary listening level. A matching integrated LUFS reading is a useful measurement, not a substitute for musical judgment.
When to use compression or dynamic normalization
If a song’s quiet sections are too quiet relative to its loud sections, applying one gain change to the whole song will not solve that internal difference. Compression or dynamic processing can alter those relationships, but that is a separate creative decision from matching songs’ overall loudness. Audition the result for pumping, flattened impact, or other unwanted changes.

FFmpeg documents loudnorm for EBU R 128 loudness normalization. Its Dynamic Audio Normalizer is a different option that evens quieter and louder sections. Choose the latter only when you intend to change local level differences, rather than treating it as a transparent substitute for one gain adjustment. FFmpeg filter documentation.

Troubleshoot uneven or problematic playback
- One song still sounds louder despite a similar LUFS reading: Integrated loudness does not describe every moment or account for musical context. Compare the song’s sections and its transitions by listening; make a restrained adjustment if needed.
- The stereo image shifts after processing: Check whether independent stereo-channel normalization was enabled. For ordinary stereo material, process the channels as a linked pair.
- The exported file sounds harsh or clips: Check peak level and leave headroom before lossy encoding. A −1 dB peak setting in Audacity’s peak Normalize effect is a documented example, not a perceived-loudness target.
- Quiet passages remain too quiet: Whole-song loudness normalization applies gain; it does not narrow a song’s internal dynamics. If you choose compression or dynamic normalization, listen for changes to musical impact.
- You cannot find an official LUFS target for YouTube: The official YouTube Help pages cited here explain playback diagnostics and troubleshooting, not a LUFS mastering recommendation. Pick a consistent working level and evaluate the uploaded playback rather than assuming an unsupported platform number.
