You can reduce some AI-related posts in social feeds, but no platform covered here offers a guaranteed switch that removes every AI-generated item. TikTok and Pinterest have reported AI-specific recommendation controls, with availability that may depend on rollout; X offers keyword muting, while Meta’s and YouTube’s AI labels are disclosures, not viewer filters. Start with an AI preference control if your account has one, then use each service’s feed and feedback settings.
What to know before changing settings
“AI-related” covers a wide range of content, from fully generated images and video to material edited with AI. Platforms use different definitions and signals, and labels may depend on creator disclosure or platform detection. A recommendation setting can tune what appears without eliminating it; a label tells you something about content but does not necessarily change whether it is recommended.
Menu names and feature availability change. Check the current app or account, especially for features described as tests or staged rollouts.

How to reduce AI-related content on TikTok
TikTok announced a test of an AI-generated-content control in Manage Topics for the For You feed. The control is meant to let users adjust how much AIGC appears, alongside existing topic adjustments, customizable keyword filters, and Not interested feedback. Because it was announced as a test, it may not be available to every account or in every region. See TikTok’s announcement for its stated scope.

If the control is present, open the For You feed’s topic-management settings and adjust the AI-generated-content preference. If it is absent, use the available topic controls, keyword filters, and Not interested feedback on unwanted recommendations. These alternatives can influence recommendations but do not identify all AI material.
TikTok also says it requires labels for realistic AI-generated content and uses creator labeling tools, detection models, and C2PA Content Credentials. It reported more than 1.3 billion videos labeled to date in its 2025 announcement; that is TikTok’s cumulative, platform-reported count, not an independently measured estimate of how much AI content is on the service.

How to limit AI-related posts on X
X’s recommendation documentation distinguishes For You, which includes recommended posts, from Following, which shows posts from accounts you follow. Switching to Following can reduce exposure to recommendations, though followed accounts may still post AI-related material.
For a more targeted workaround, mute words, phrases, usernames, emojis, or hashtags associated with posts you do not want. X says, “Muting only applies to your notifications and Home timeline.” It is not a system-wide AI filter and will miss posts that do not use your chosen terms. Broad terms such as “AI” or “synthetic” may also hide wanted news and discussion. What YouTube’s AI labels do
YouTube’s labels are disclosures, not a way to hide a video. For photorealistic or meaningfully AI-altered or generated content, the platform describes a more prominent label below long-form videos and an overlay on Shorts. In May 2026, YouTube began rolling out internal signals that can automatically label substantial photorealistic AI use when a creator has not disclosed it. The label’s appearance and the feature’s coverage depend on the content and rollout; less realistic, animated, or slightly altered material may have disclosure in the expanded description.
YouTube states: “It’s important to note that a disclosure label alone does not change how a video is recommended or whether it’s eligible to earn money.” You can give ordinary feedback on individual videos or channels to tune recommendations, but that is not an AI-specific filter. Facebook and Instagram: labels are not an AI mute
Meta’s described approach uses AI Info labels and contextual information, rather than a control that suppresses every AI-generated post. Its 2024 policy explanation says content generally remains available with labels unless it breaks other policies; material rated False or Altered by fact-checkers is ranked lower in Feed. That ranking treatment is not a general user setting for hiding AI content. Review Meta’s labeling explanation, and check current app settings for any newer controls.

Associated Press reported on January 29, 2026, that Pinterest had introduced a GenAI interests tuner in recommendation settings, with category controls and a staged rollout across Android, desktop, and iOS. Look in recommendation settings for an option to adjust relevant categories if it is available to your account. The report does not establish that the tuner is available to everyone now or that it removes every AI-related Pin. See the Associated Press guide for the reported rollout.

A practical approach across your feeds
- Check for an AI-specific preference. Look in recommendation or topic settings on TikTok and Pinterest; availability may vary.
- Use general feed controls where needed. On X, try Following; on supported services, give Not interested or other recommendation feedback on individual posts.
- Use keyword muting selectively. Where word muting is available, choose a short list of likely terms or hashtags. Expect misses and false positives.
- Treat labels as context. An AI label can help identify disclosed or detected material, but it does not itself hide the post or guarantee complete labeling.
These controls address recommendations and visible terms, not every way AI may be used in content. The most reliable expectation is a feed with less of some unwanted material, not a feed guaranteed to contain no AI-related posts.
