A basic page check can miss anything that appears only after you scroll. To monitor an infinite-scrolling page reliably, identify the content you care about, scroll the page or its actual scroll container until that content loads, wait for a page-specific sign that it is present, and compare only the relevant area. Then verify that your chosen monitor’s capture includes those later items before relying on its alerts.
Why infinite scrolling can defeat a page monitor
Infinite-scroll pages add content as a visitor moves down the page. A capture limited to the initial viewport may therefore record only the first items, even when newer or older entries exist farther down. A monitor can compare only what it successfully captures; it cannot alert you about items its capture never reaches.
There is no single infinite-scroll implementation. Some pages scroll the window; others load items when a nested panel or list reaches its own bottom. Some content may also depend on login, location, or other page conditions. Treat a successful capture of your specific target page—not a tool’s general dynamic-page capability—as the test of whether monitoring will work.

Choose what should count as a change
Before setting up a monitor, identify the list, cards, table, or text that matters. Watching the whole page can include unrelated changes such as rotating promotions or personalized sections. Selecting a smaller target can make comparisons more useful: Distill documents full-page and selected-area monitoring, while Visualping documents whole-page or element selection and visual, text, and code change detection (Distill documentation; Visualping help).

- If the same updates are available through an RSS feed, monitoring that structured source may be simpler. Distill documents RSS monitoring where a page supports it.
- If you need scheduled checks or notifications without writing browser automation, try a browser extension or hosted monitor, then inspect its captured result on the actual page.
- If you need to control scrolling, selectors, and waits precisely, use browser automation such as Playwright.
- If you are building a custom workflow and need to notice DOM changes, a MutationObserver can detect them—but it does not determine whether a change matters or whether all content has loaded.
Set up a reliable Playwright capture
The example below uses Playwright’s JavaScript API to scroll a page, wait for a target list to grow, and save the list’s text as a comparison snapshot. Replace the URL and selectors with those for the page you monitor. The selector for the list should match the content that matters, and the item selector should match its repeated entries.
Install Playwright
In a new Node.js project, install Playwright and its Chromium browser:
npm init -y
npm install playwright
npx playwright install chromium
Create the capture script
Save this as capture.mjs. It scrolls the list into view and then scrolls its container (the page by default) to encourage more entries to load. It waits for the number of matching items to increase, then writes a text snapshot. If the list itself is a nested scroll container, set SCROLLER_SELECTOR to that element’s selector.

Run it with the selectors appropriate to the target:
TARGET_URL='https://example.com/feed' LIST_SELECTOR='.feed' ITEM_SELECTOR='.feed-item' node capture.mjs
This script produces a text snapshot, not a complete guarantee that every item on an unbounded feed has been loaded. Set a practical scroll limit for your use case, and compare the resulting snapshot or a normalized version of it with the prior run. If the page changes older entries in place, verify that those entries are included in the captured target too.
Handle nested scrolling and load waits
When a nested list triggers loading, scrolling the browser window may do nothing. Point SCROLLER_SELECTOR at the element whose scroll position changes, hover it, and send a wheel event as above. Playwright also documents adjusting a particular container’s scroll position and scrolling an element near the bottom into view to trigger an infinite list (Playwright scrolling documentation).

- Used Book in Good Condition
The example waits for an increase in matching item count, which is evidence tied to the content being collected. Adapt the condition if the page replaces existing entries, updates a timestamp, or signals loading in another way. Playwright discourages using networkidle as a generic readiness decision; a page-specific assertion is more meaningful than assuming a quiet network means the feed is complete (Playwright Page API).
Use a DOM observer only for what it can tell you
The browser’s MutationObserver API watches for changes to a DOM tree (MDN documentation). In a custom monitor, it can help detect that nodes were appended or modified. A mutation alone is not evidence that the new content is relevant, that a page has finished loading, or that no more items remain. Pair observation with a specific target and a condition for when to take the comparison snapshot.
Compare captures without noisy alerts
- Compare the chosen list or element instead of every changing part of the page, where your monitor permits it.
- Normalize content that changes on every visit but is not important to you, such as a display-only timestamp, before comparing snapshots.
- Inspect actual before-and-after captures. Make sure later items appear, and check whether the page changes existing items rather than only appending new ones.
- Start with a schedule appropriate to how often updates matter, then adjust it after reviewing alerts. Distill documents configurable schedules and notification actions.
Hosted monitors describe dynamic-page and selected-area or selected-element monitoring, but their documentation does not establish that every nested scroller, gated page, or infinite-scroll implementation will be fully captured. Confirm the result for your page before treating it as dependable.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. For a screenshot of a page, make one GET request; its API also supports full-page capture with lazy images loaded. A screenshot can help you inspect a rendered result, but it does not replace the scrolling-and-waiting logic needed to ensure a particular infinite-scroll feed has loaded the entries you want.
Example cURL request (replace the URL with your target page):

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs. Troubleshooting
The snapshot contains only the first screen
The automation may be scrolling the window while the list uses a nested container, or it may not reach the list’s loading threshold. Inspect the page to identify the element whose scroll position changes, set SCROLLER_SELECTOR to it, and confirm that the item selector matches entries actually added to the DOM.
The script stops before new items appear
The expected selector may be wrong, the page may use a different load signal, or loading may take longer than the wait. Inspect the DOM after a manual scroll, update the selector or condition to match the page, and adjust the wait for the site’s observed behavior. Do not treat a longer generic network-idle wait as proof that all feed content is available.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteAlerts fire for changes you do not care about
Narrow the monitored area to the list or element that matters, and exclude or normalize irrelevant changing text where possible. Review captures to determine whether noise comes from content, layout, or unrelated page regions before changing alert sensitivity.
The monitor behaves differently from a normal visit
Check whether the page requires a signed-in session, particular cookies, or other visitor-specific state, and whether the monitor’s browser can reproduce it. Test the exact target and verify the resulting capture; general claims about dynamic-page support do not prove coverage of a specific gated or nested-scroll page.
