Use ChangeTower to watch the exact official university or counselling-authority page where an admission notice or merit list is published. Choose content monitoring to catch general page changes, or keyword monitoring to watch for a particular phrase. An alert only means ChangeTower detected a change under your settings; it does not establish eligibility, confirm a seat, or replace the university’s official instructions.
Find the official page to monitor
Open the university’s or counselling authority’s own admissions, notices, or merit-list page and copy its full URL. Prefer the specific page over the institution’s homepage: a homepage may not change when a separate notice page is updated. ChangeTower’s first-monitor guide directs users to enter the full URL of the page they want to monitor.
If notices and applicant allotments appear on different destinations, consider monitoring each separately, subject to the page limit on your plan. A domain scan may help you discover pages, but it is not a substitute for identifying the specific destinations you need. ChangeTower’s guide to monitoring an entire website describes constraints, including plan limits that can result in excess monitors being paused.
Create and tune a ChangeTower monitor
- Add the URL: In ChangeTower, start a new monitor and enter the copied page URL.
- Choose what counts as a change: Use content monitoring when any meaningful text change matters. Choose keyword monitoring if you only want to know when a specific phrase appears or disappears—for example, a phrase used in a notice title. Check the current setup options in the monitor guide and FAQ.
- Reduce irrelevant changes: If menus, banners, or other page sections change frequently, use selective monitoring to target the relevant area or ignore noisy elements. The selective-monitoring guide describes selecting elements and setting a word-change threshold.
- Set a check frequency and alerts: Pick a frequency available on your current plan and enable email or another alert destination offered in your account. Page capacity and check frequency depend on plan; the current ChangeTower FAQ says its Free plan starts at three monitored pages. Confirm current limits in the product before relying on multiple monitors.
- Establish a baseline: The first alert is sent only after a change is detected following the initial snapshot. ChangeTower notes, “Your first alert only arrives once the page actually changes, so it’s normal to hear nothing for a while,” in its first-monitor guide.
Choose a configuration that fits the page
| Choice | Use it when | Trade-off to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Content monitoring | You want notice of general meaningful text changes on the page. | Changes outside the admission information you care about may also trigger alerts. |
| Keyword monitoring | You want to track a particular phrase appearing or disappearing. | A notice worded differently may not match the phrase you selected. |
| Whole page | The relevant information is spread across the page, or you are unsure which section will change. | Unrelated dynamic sections can create noise. |
| Selected area | The list or notice is in a stable, identifiable section. | If the page is redesigned, check that the selection still targets the intended content. Selective-monitoring options are described in ChangeTower’s guide. |
Portal behavior also matters. ChangeTower documents manual user actions and monitoring of password-protected pages in its features overview, but that does not establish that a particular Indian admissions portal will work. Login requirements, CAPTCHAs, JavaScript-rendered lists, and page redesigns can affect monitoring. Try the specific URL and inspect the baseline rather than assuming compatibility.
#1 Best Overall
Verify every alert on the official portal
Open the university’s official page after an alert and read the complete, current notice. Check its publication date and the instructions that apply to your course, category, and admission cycle, including eligibility, required documents, payment, reporting, and deadlines. A detected change is a prompt to verify—not an admission decision or confirmation that a seat is yours.
Admission rounds, merit-list dates, eligibility rules, seat acceptance, document verification, payment, and reporting vary by university and cycle. For example, a MANUU spot-admission notice concerns PG merit-based programmes at the Srinagar campus for 2024–25; it is a dated example, not a current schedule or national rule. Likewise, the 2025 student manual hosted by CollegeAdmission.in describes a process involving seat type, an auto-upgradation preference, and payment after allotment. Those steps are not universal; follow the instructions on your own portal.
Troubleshoot missed or noisy alerts
- No alert yet: ChangeTower’s first alert follows the initial snapshot and a subsequent detected change. Check the official page directly while waiting; silence does not mean there is no upcoming notice.
- Too many unrelated alerts: Switch to a relevant keyword or narrow monitoring to a selected page area. Recheck that the threshold and target section suit the information you need.
- The monitor no longer tracks the list: If the page was redesigned, revisit the monitor and confirm it still targets the intended section and criteria.
- The page requires sign-in or interaction: ChangeTower documents user actions and password-protected-page monitoring, but compatibility with a particular portal is not established. Try the exact page and verify that the baseline contains the content you expect; if monitoring cannot access it, check the portal directly and use any official notification channel available.
- You need to watch several destinations: Check your current plan’s page capacity and frequency before adding monitors. Do not assume a domain scan will reliably cover every separate notice or applicant page.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a screenshot of a public notice page rather than receive ongoing change alerts, ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It does not replace ChangeTower’s monitoring. Its API can return a screenshot or PDF from one GET request; cookie banners are accepted and removed before the shot, along with 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot and PDF tools for AI agents.
For example, capture a university page as WebP with cURL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://university.example/admissions/merit-list -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for setup and options. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for free.
