ScreenshotNeo is not a React Error Boundary reporting service: its API captures a rendered URL or supplied HTML as an image or PDF, rather than receiving React exceptions. To monitor boundary-caught errors, report them from React’s componentDidCatch(error, info) hook to an error-reporting service. Use ScreenshotNeo separately when you need to inspect how a fallback or report page looks in a browser.
What an Error Boundary reports—and what it does not
A React Error Boundary catches selected errors thrown while rendering its descendant components and lets the app display fallback UI. Catching an error does not automatically create a durable report for later review. React documents componentDidCatch as the lifecycle hook for handling a caught error; its info.componentStack value identifies the component that threw and its ancestors. React’s Component reference explains the lifecycle and its limits.
Keep three responsibilities distinct: recovery UI for the user, exception reporting for engineering review, and optional visual inspection of the rendered fallback. A screenshot alone does not establish that the underlying exception was recorded.
Report caught errors from the boundary
In a class boundary, use static getDerivedStateFromError to switch to fallback UI and componentDidCatch(error, info) to forward the error and component context to your reporting service. The following is a service-neutral pattern; replace reportError with the reporting SDK’s current API.

class ErrorBoundary extends React.Component {
state = { hasError: false };
static getDerivedStateFromError(error) {
return { hasError: true };
}
componentDidCatch(error, info) {
reportError(error, {
componentStack: info.componentStack,
});
}
render() {
if (this.state.hasError) {
return this.props.fallback ?? <p>Something went wrong.</p>;
}
return this.props.children;
}
}
This example assumes reportError is defined by your application or monitoring SDK. Avoid sending secrets or sensitive user data with an event; decide what context to include according to your application’s privacy and retention requirements.
Preserve readable component context in production
React’s info.componentStack gives a component hierarchy, but production component names may be minified. Configure and upload the source maps for the production build to your reporting service so that its reports can map minified names back to source. Keep release/build identifiers consistent with the source maps you upload; otherwise reports may remain difficult to interpret.
Do not rely on a global window.onerror handler as a substitute for reporting in the boundary. React documents that errors caught by componentDidCatch bubble to window in development, but not in production. The boundary’s explicit reporting call is the reliable place to forward the caught exception in this pattern.

Cover errors outside Error Boundaries
Boundaries are not complete application monitoring. React documents that they do not catch errors from event handlers, server-side rendering, the boundary itself, or most asynchronous callbacks such as timers. React notes an exception for errors thrown inside a startTransition function. Add handling and reporting appropriate to each of these execution paths rather than expecting one boundary to see them all.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Event handlers: handle and report failures in the handler or through your application’s event/error-reporting layer.
- Server rendering: capture failures in the server-rendering request path; a client boundary does not cover that work.
- Asynchronous callbacks: handle rejected promises, timer callbacks, and other asynchronous work where it runs, using the error-reporting integration appropriate to that context.
- The boundary itself: provide an outer recovery/reporting strategy, since a boundary cannot catch its own failure.
Use a monitoring SDK for durable event review
An error-reporting service can receive exception events and provide a place to review them. Sentry is one example, not a React requirement. Its React frontend guidance is at Sentry’s frontend monitoring page. Sentry’s changelog says React and Next.js SDK 8.6.0 added React 19 error-hook support and component-stack attachment on June 17, 2024; that is a version-specific historical note, not a guarantee about every current SDK setup. See the React 19 support changelog, and check the current guidance for the React version and SDK version you actually install before wiring error hooks.
The transferable setup is to connect boundary-caught exceptions to a reporting service, preserve the component context, and make production source maps available. Alert thresholds, retention periods, and privacy controls are choices for your application and service; React does not prescribe universal values for them.

Where ScreenshotNeo fits
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its documented API captures a URL or supplied HTML and can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output, along with page metadata. That can help you visually inspect a publicly reachable fallback page or a report UI rendered from HTML. It does not ingest React Error Boundary exceptions, so pair it with—not instead of—an error-reporting SDK. The ScreenshotNeo API documentation describes the capture API, outputs, and asynchronous jobs.
Keep the visual-check workflow separate from event reporting: an async capture job or signed webhook is delivery for a screenshot task, not an error-monitoring alert. ScreenshotNeo’s documentation says requests to private or local target addresses are rejected. Do not place secrets or private exception content in a screenshot request merely to create a report image.
Or skip the browser setup
For a visual check of a publicly reachable fallback or report page, make a single request to ScreenshotNeo. This captures the page; your boundary still needs to send exceptions to an error-reporting service.

Before the capture, ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response indicates the page verdict and billing status in headers. Troubleshooting reports and visual checks
The fallback appears, but no report arrives
Check that componentDidCatch runs and that the reporting call is wired to the intended SDK/client. A fallback render is recovery behavior, not proof of event delivery. Also check the service’s network, filtering, and environment configuration in its current documentation.
Reports show minified or unhelpful component names
Verify that production source maps were generated and uploaded for the same build or release that produced the event. React notes that production component names can be minified, so without matching source maps the component stack may be harder to read.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA global handler misses a caught production error
That can be expected: React documents different bubbling behavior for caught errors in development and production. Forward the error explicitly in componentDidCatch rather than depending on window.onerror to receive it.

A handler, timer, or server-rendering failure is absent
Those paths are outside the normal boundary coverage. Add reporting at the event handler, asynchronous operation, or server request/render layer that owns the failure.
A ScreenshotNeo capture does not show the desired page
Confirm that the target is publicly reachable and not a private or local address, then use the API documentation to check request parameters and capture behavior. A capture result is a visual artifact, not a record that a React exception was delivered to a monitoring service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does React provide Error Boundaries as function components?
React’s documented boundary lifecycle methods are class-component APIs. For function-component applications, use a reusable class boundary or a boundary library such as react-error-boundary.

Does ScreenshotNeo receive the error object from componentDidCatch?
No. ScreenshotNeo’s documented API captures rendered pages or supplied HTML; it is not a React exception ingestion SDK.
