To monitor product recalls, subscribe to the official regulator alerts that match the products and country you care about, then verify every notice against the item’s model, code, lot, and distribution details. In the United States, start with Recalls.gov and follow its links to the responsible agency; in Canada, use Health Canada’s recall pages and the alert channels listed for each category. No single service covers every product category or country.

Choose official alert sources for your country and products

A recall alert is useful only if it covers the relevant jurisdiction and product category. Build a short list of official sources for items your household owns rather than assuming one email list or app covers everything.

United States: use the agency responsible for the product

  • Broad starting point: Recalls.gov links consumers to federal recall information across areas including consumer products, motor vehicles, boats, food, medicines, cosmetics, and environmental products. It is a portal; follow its link to the actual agency notice and remedy instructions.
  • FDA-regulated products: FDA’s consumer guidance covers foods and dietary supplements, animal food, cosmetics, human and animal drugs, medical devices, vaccines and other biologics, radiation-emitting products, and tobacco products. Its Enforcement Report lets you subscribe to all recalls, a commodity, keywords, or an individual event, with daily or weekly delivery. Keywords can include a product, brand, or recall reason.
  • Many household, children’s, recreation, and school products: Search the CPSC Recalls & Product Safety Warnings page. It supports searches and downloads, and CPSC provides email and RSS options as well as a recall app. Its recall data charts update weekly; remedy availability may change daily, so check the current notice before acting.
  • Meat, poultry, and certain egg products: Follow USDA FSIS recall announcements and subscribe to FSIS email updates. FSIS also posts recall information on Foodsafety.gov and in the FoodKeeper app. Other food products are generally regulated by FDA.

For cross-agency email options, the Recalls.gov subscription page offers direct notifications from CPSC, FDA, USDA, and NHTSA. Some subscriptions may require email confirmation.

Canada: select the category-specific channel

Health Canada groups notices into consumer products, food, health products, and vehicles or child car seats. Its guide to staying informed lists available channels by category, including an app, RSS, email, widget, or social channels. Availability differs by category, so check the current page. The broader consumer product safety page links to recalls, reporting, safe-use information, and updates.

Outside the United States and Canada

Use the national authority responsible for consumer products, food, medicines, and vehicles in your jurisdiction. Recalls.gov and Health Canada are not global alert services, and the official guidance cited here does not establish a comprehensive international directory.

  • Coverage: Confirm the regulator, product category, and country included. Add another official source when a product falls under a different agency.
  • Filtering: FDA offers all-recall, commodity, keyword, and individual-event subscriptions. A broad feed may catch more relevant notices but can include more alerts; a narrow keyword or event filter is easier to follow but depends on choosing appropriate terms.
  • Delivery: Depending on the agency and category, options may include email, RSS, an app, a widget, social channels, or a searchable database. Use a feed reader for RSS or check the official database directly if that better fits your routine.
  • Cadence: FDA offers daily or weekly notification schedules. Other channels may work through feeds, apps, or database checks; do not assume they deliver alerts on the same schedule.
  • Actionability: Prefer the official notice that identifies affected models, lots, dates, distribution, and the remedy. A headline or notification alone may not contain enough information to identify your item.
  1. List the product categories and countries relevant to your household—for example, food, children’s products, medicines, or vehicles.
  2. Open the appropriate official agency page and select its email, RSS, app, or other available alert option. For FDA notices, choose all recalls, a commodity, keywords, or an individual event and then select the offered daily or weekly schedule.
  3. For any email subscription that asks for confirmation, complete the confirmation step. Check junk-mail filtering if the expected confirmation does not arrive.
  4. Keep the official searchable recall pages available as a second way to check. Subscriptions are a notification method, not proof that every relevant notice will reach you.

Check whether a recall applies to the item you own

A matching brand name by itself does not establish that your particular item is affected. Compare the product with the identifiers and distribution details in the official notice. FDA says company notices commonly provide such information to help consumers identify affected products.

  • Product name, brand, model, type, and size.
  • Packaging or product photographs.
  • UPC or another product code.
  • Lot or batch number and use-by, sell-by, or other date marking.
  • Country, state or province, store, or other distribution information.

Use as many identifiers as the notice provides. If details are missing or ambiguous, contact the recalling company or relevant regulator rather than guessing from a brand or photo. Check the live official notice when you act, since remedy availability and instructions can change.

CallToU Bed Alarms for Elderly/Dementia Patients who Wander, Portable Pager & Sensor with Vibration and Silent Alert Features, Fall Prevention Alert for Home Hospital Care, Room Monitor.
  • How It Works: Wireless motion sensor positioned on floor beside bed to detect feet touching ground. Detection range: 3-10 feet from sensor. Detects movement before patient is fully standing. Doesn't require touching patient. Less likely to trigger from bed movements or repositioning.
  • Adjustable Volume & Ringtones: The bed alarms receiver offers 5 volume levels (0–110dB) and 18 ringtones. Adjust the settings for day or night, or use vibration only, so you can rest easy knowing your loved one is safe without disturbing them.
  • Silent & Vibrate Modes with Smart Detection: The sensor supports 360° rotation to prevent false alarms from incontinence or restless sleep—a common issue with bed pads/floor mats. When not monitoring, simply turn off the receiver or switch to silent or vibrate mode to suit your needs. Enjoy reliable safety without the nuisance of constant false alerts.
  • Caregiver Fall Prevention and Bed Exit Alerts:You'll be able to rest easy, especially at night, knowing you'll be alerted the moment they try to get up. A bed alarm for elderly gives you those vital seconds to reach them before they fall or wander.
  • Portable & Flexible Installation: The bed alarm receiver has a Type-C charging port and is portable, allowing you to move around the house. Unlike bed mats with sealed transmitters that must be discarded, our infrared sensor uses 3 replaceable AAA batteries for long-term use. The sensor supports 360° rotation to prevent false alarms from minor movements.

What to do when a notice matches

  1. Stop using the product if instructed. Follow the notice’s specific safety direction; do not continue use while trying to determine a remedy.
  2. Use the remedy stated in the notice. Depending on the recall, it may be a repair, return, refund, replacement, or disposal instruction. Availability and details can change, so recheck the current notice.
  3. Do not pass the item to someone else. Health Canada advises against giving recalled products away. Do not discard an item without checking the instructions: products such as batteries and drugs may need special disposal.
  4. Ask if directions are absent. Contact the manufacturer or regulator for handling instructions instead of improvising.
  5. Seek medical advice when appropriate. FDA advises people who feel ill after using an FDA-regulated product to contact a health professional and report the problem.

Common monitoring problems and fixes

  • You cannot find the product in a broad portal: Follow the portal’s agency links and search the responsible regulator’s own recall page. The portal is a starting point, not necessarily the notice database itself.
  • You receive too many or too few FDA emails: Review whether you chose all recalls, a commodity, a keyword, or an individual event. Broaden or narrow the filter to suit your needs, and remember that a narrow keyword depends on the terms used.
  • An email subscription appears inactive: Check for a confirmation message and complete it if required; Recalls.gov notes that some subscriptions require email confirmation. Also check junk-mail filtering.
  • The product name matches but details do not: Compare model, size, UPC, lot or batch, date, and distribution details. If the notice does not resolve the question, ask the company or regulator.
  • A listed remedy is unavailable or unclear: Reopen the live agency notice because remedy availability can change, and contact the company or regulator if instructions remain unclear.
  • You have no alert about an item: Absence of a notification does not establish that a product is safe. Check the relevant official database when you need to verify an item.
