To monitor multiple webpages in Distill.io, put each webpage’s name and URL on its own row in a CSV, then import that file through Distill’s monitor import flow. Use JSON instead if you need to carry over fuller monitor settings. After import, check the entries in the Watchlist and choose whether each monitor should run locally on your device or in Distill’s cloud.

Prepare a CSV of the webpages to monitor

In Distill, each monitor tracks a webpage at its own URL. For a quick bulk setup, create a CSV with a Name and a URL column, then add one monitor per row. Use clear names so you can recognize each page in the Watchlist.

Distill’s import guide identifies Name and URL as the required CSV fields. Labels and content type are optional. See Distill’s CSV and JSON import guide for the documented import format.

Import the list into Distill

  1. Save the list as a CSV file with the required Name and URL columns.
  2. Open Distill’s monitor import flow and choose the CSV file. Follow the prompts to import the monitors.
  3. When you need to retain detailed monitor setup, use JSON rather than CSV. Distill’s JSON import preserves fuller configurations, including selectors, conditions, schedules, and settings; CSV is the simpler route for basic monitor data.

Distill’s official import instructions are at How to Export and Import Monitors.

Review and manage the imported monitors in the Watchlist

Once imported, open the Watchlist to confirm the monitors are present and manage them together. The Watchlist collects your monitors, and selecting multiple entries makes bulk actions available. Use those actions when you want to change settings across a group instead of opening monitors one by one. Distill documents batch changes to device and configuration settings in its configuration and advanced-options guide.

For Watchlist behavior and selection, see What is Watchlist?.

Choose local or cloud checks

Importing a list does not remove the need to decide where each monitor should run. The practical difference is whether checks depend on your own device:

Check type Where it runs Must your device be running? Useful when
Local Your browser or computer Yes You want browser-based checks that run on your device.
Cloud Distill’s servers No You want checks to continue while your device is off.

Distill explains the distinction in Local Monitor vs. Cloud Monitor. Choose the device deliberately when setting up or batch-editing monitors: local checks depend on the browser or computer being available, while cloud checks do not.

Fix common bulk-monitoring issues

  • A monitor did not import as expected: Check that the CSV includes the required Name and URL columns and that each intended monitor has its own row. If you need selectors, conditions, schedules, or other fuller settings, use the JSON import path described in Distill’s import guide.
  • You cannot see a bulk action: In the Watchlist, select multiple monitor entries first. The available bulk actions apply to the selected monitors; see the Watchlist guide.
  • Checks stop when your computer is off: The monitors are running locally. Switch the relevant monitors to cloud checks if they need to continue independently of your device. See Distill’s local-versus-cloud guide.
  • A page is captured before its content appears: Some pages load content late. Increase the extraction delay in that monitor’s configuration, then check whether the captured content is complete. Distill covers configuration options in its advanced-monitor guide.

Use Distill on a supported platform

Distill documents browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera, as well as a web app. Check its supported platforms page for the available options. The documentation also describes the Distill Chrome extension and what Distill is.
