To monitor a hotel rate, keep the property, dates, guests, room and rate terms, currency, and booking source the same each time you check. Save a screenshot with its capture time, then reopen the live page to verify any apparent price drop before booking: a screenshot records what the page showed at one moment, not a reservation or a guaranteed price.
Set up a like-for-like hotel price check
A rate is meaningful only when the itinerary and offer match. Google’s hotel pricing documentation defines prices using itinerary details such as check-in date, length of stay, room ID, and rate plan; Google’s consumer help describes partner prices for the selected stay (Google Hotel Prices pricing overview; Google Travel Help).
- Choose one property and record check-in and checkout dates, or the number of nights.
- Keep the number of adults and children consistent, along with room type where known.
- Use the same booking source for a price trend, or record each source separately when comparing offers.
- Record the currency and whether the displayed figure is per night or for the full stay.
- Note the room and rate-plan name, cancellation/refund rules, payment timing, and included benefits.
Rates may also vary according to device, sign-in status, or audience; Google says some customized prices are marked with an asterisk. Record the circumstances in which you saw a rate rather than assuming every traveler sees the same price (Google Travel Help).
Capture a baseline screenshot
Open the booking page, select the itinerary, and capture enough of the page to identify what the displayed price applies to. There is no universal screenshot format required by the cited sources; the following fields make your own comparison useful.

- Confirm the property, dates, occupancy, and room or rate plan on the page.
- Capture the displayed amount, currency, nightly/full-stay basis, and any taxes or fees shown.
- Include the booking provider and cancellation or payment terms when visible. If the page is longer than one screen, use a full-page capture or save more than one view.
- Record the capture date and time separately if the page does not show them. Save the page URL with the screenshot if useful.
A compact log can include timestamp, property, dates, guests, provider, room/rate name, cancellation terms, nightly and total prices, currency, taxes or fees, URL, screenshot filename, and notes on inclusions. Screenshots are records of displayed information; the available sources do not establish that hotels universally accept them for price-match claims or disputes.
Repeat checks or use a page-change monitor
Manual checks
For occasional tracking, revisit the same rate page and repeat the capture using the same itinerary and booking source. Choose a checking cadence appropriate to your booking timeline; there is no established universally optimal interval in the sources cited here.

Automated checks
A general website-change monitor can check a whole page or a selected region on a schedule and send alerts or before-and-after comparisons. Visualping documents these capabilities in its help center and on its website. Those vendor descriptions do not establish that a particular hotel booking flow will retain its dates, occupancy, or session state reliably.
Test the exact page for several scheduled checks before relying on alerts. Inspect the captured images and confirm the same itinerary is still selected. Hotel pages may require dates or occupancy to be reselected, and some content may depend on a session. Treat an alert as a reason to inspect the offer, not proof that the rate changed for an equivalent room and booking condition.

Verify an apparent price drop
Open the live page from the alert and compare the full offer, not just its headline nightly price. Google’s price policy says the booking page total must match the total displayed on Google and mandatory taxes and fees must be disclosed; Google also advises travelers to check the final room cost because prices can change quickly (Google Hotel Center Price Accuracy Policy; Google Travel Help).
- Same dates, number of nights, and guest count?
- Same room category, rate plan, and included benefits?
- Same booking provider and access conditions, such as member-only or signed-in rates?
- Same cancellation, refund, and payment terms?
- Comparable total for the entire stay, including mandatory taxes and fees, in the same currency?
If any answer differs, log it as a different offer rather than a clean price decrease. Recheck the final payable amount on the booking page before acting.

Common problems and fixes
- The alert shows a different price but the itinerary changed: open the page and reselect the intended dates, nights, and occupancy before comparing.
- The monitor captures a sign-in or session page: inspect its saved screenshot, then test whether the page requires a fresh session or a different monitoring approach. Do not assume the scheduled monitor maintains booking-site state.
- The headline price fell but the total did not: compare the full-stay amount and mandatory fees, plus cancellation and payment terms.
- The screenshot does not identify the offer: recapture a fuller page or additional views that show the property, itinerary, room/rate details, provider, and amount; add the timestamp to your log.
- The price differs between devices or accounts: record the device/sign-in conditions and treat the display as a separate observed offer.
Frequently asked questions
Can a screenshot guarantee that a hotel will honor the displayed rate?
No. It records a past display, while availability and prices can change. Reopen the booking page and check the final total and terms before booking.
