To get notified when a GST-related page changes, add the relevant official GSTN or CBIC page to Distill.io, select the full page or just its updates section, choose local or cloud monitoring, and configure an available schedule and alert method. A Distill alert tells you that page content changed; it does not explain the legal effect of the change or guarantee that every update will be detected.
Choose the official source that matches the update you need
“GST portal updates” can mean different things. GSTN portal news and advisories generally concern the taxpayer portal and its services. CBIC’s Tax Information portal is a separate source for notifications and circulars. Monitoring one does not provide a complete feed of the other.

The National Portal of India describes the GST website as covering GST law, registration, payments, user services, and departmental activities. Identify the specific update stream you need before creating a monitor rather than treating one page as comprehensive coverage of GST administration. For a deadline or legal obligation, consult the underlying official notification, circular, statute, or portal advisory and seek qualified professional advice when appropriate. Set up a Distill monitor
- Open the official page. In a browser with the Distill extension installed, open the relevant GSTN or CBIC page. Distill’s extension can monitor an entire page or selected content. See Distill’s browser-extension guide.
- Choose the monitoring scope. Select Monitor full page if you want changes anywhere on the listing page. Select Monitor parts of page if you only care about a news, advisory, notification, or circular list and want to avoid unrelated page changes. Select the target region, preview it, and save the selection.
- Name the monitor clearly. Use a name that distinguishes the source and purpose, such as “GSTN taxpayer advisories” or “CBIC GST circulars.” This helps you recognize which official stream triggered an alert.
- Choose where and when it checks. Select a local or cloud monitor, then choose a schedule available under your plan. Distill’s check intervals and quotas can vary by plan, so confirm current details on its pricing page.
- Set an alert action. Configure an available notification method, such as email. Alert methods and their availability depend on the plan; do not assume a particular method or schedule is included for every account.
- Verify the first results. When Distill reports a change, open the official page and inspect the changed text. Use the monitor’s change history to identify unrelated changes and adjust the selected region or conditions if needed.
Choose local or cloud monitoring

Keep the monitor useful and verify important changes
- Review the source, not just the alert. An alert is a prompt to inspect changed page content, not a conclusion that a rule changed or applies to you.
- Check monitor history periodically. Confirm that the captured content still includes the intended list or advisory. Page redesigns, loading errors, or changed page structure can affect what a monitor sees.
- Re-select content after site changes. If navigation or page layout changes, revisit the saved selection and preview it again.
- Use the appropriate official stream. GSTN portal advisories and CBIC legal or departmental updates are distinct. Monitor both if both are relevant to your work.
- Confirm current plan limits. Check frequency and alert allowances may change; consult Distill’s current pricing information rather than relying on an old schedule or quota.
Troubleshooting missed or noisy alerts

Can Distill monitor GSTN advisories automatically?
Yes. Add the relevant GSTN page or advisory in Distill and configure a monitor. Check its history and the official page to confirm it is still capturing the content you want.

Will Distill keep checking if my computer is off?
Only a cloud monitor can check while your device is off. Local monitors need the device and Distill application available.
Can one GST portal monitor cover GSTN advisories and CBIC notifications?
No single monitored page should be treated as a comprehensive feed. GSTN and CBIC are separate update streams; create monitors for the relevant official pages.
