Use a hardware-sensor monitoring utility that supports your mini PC’s operating system, then watch the CPU reading while the cartoon stream is running. On Windows, CPUID HWMonitor is a straightforward starting point; NZXT CAM is another option with temperature graphs. On Linux, use a utility that reads the hardware-monitoring sensors exposed by the kernel and your device. Check that the value is actually a CPU sensor, not a board or drive temperature: available sensors and labels vary with the processor, drivers and firmware.
Choose a monitor for your operating system
A mini PC’s small size does not determine which monitoring app will work. Sensor support depends on the hardware and software in the particular machine. The options below are documented by their vendors or project maintainers; they have not been tested here on your mini PC.
Windows: CPUID HWMonitor
CPUID describes HWMonitor as a Windows utility for x86/x64 and ARM64 systems that reads hardware health sensors, including CPU and GPU temperatures, fan speeds, utilization and clock speeds. It is a practical first choice if you mainly need to see temperatures and related readings. CPUID also advertises a PRO version; the available information does not establish that you need a paid tier for basic temperature viewing.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Windows: NZXT CAM
NZXT says CAM can monitor Windows PCs with real-time CPU, GPU, memory and storage readings, temperature graphs, utilization and a compact mini mode. Its FAQ lists Windows 10 and 11 support, but not macOS or Linux. CAM can monitor without NZXT hardware; advanced NZXT fan control requires compatible NZXT hardware.

- Screen Stand Installation Guide: Please ensure that you use the (H) Screws specified in the instruction manual when installing the Screen Stand and the 8.8 Universal Screen. DO NOT use the longer screw “g”.
- Dynamic Control with L-Connect 3: Customize your viewing experience with L-Connect 3 software. Access preset themes and modular information, and upload your own videos and photos to create a personalized display that suits your style.
- USB-Powered Secondary Display: Enjoy plug-and-play connection via a 9-pin port or Type-A USB. This innovative design allows the 8.8" screen to function independently as a secondary monitor, displaying hardware stats, media, or custom visuals without using valuable GPU ports.
- Flexible Mounting Options: Versatile mounting bracket that supports height and tilt adjustments. Mount it securely to fan frames, attach it to case panels, or use adhesive pads for flat surfaces, ensuring optimal visibility from any angle.
- Stunning Diffused ARGB Lighting: Enhance your build's aesthetics with a built-in diffused ARGB lighting strip. Fully customizable through L-Connect 3, the lighting offers a spectrum of colors and effects, allowing synchronization with your entire system for a cohesive look.
Windows: Open Hardware Monitor
The Open Hardware Monitor project describes its software as free and open source, with monitoring support for Intel and AMD processors and other hardware. The project also notes that antivirus vendors have sometimes flagged it. Do not disable security protection or create a broad antivirus exclusion to install or run a monitoring utility.
Linux: check the sensors exposed by the system
Linux tools depend on the sensors the kernel and device drivers expose. The NIX-Z project documentation describes Intel CPU temperatures through coretemp and AMD temperatures through k10temp, using the hwmon subsystem. These are useful terms when checking your system, not a promise that every mini PC will expose the same sensor or label.

First identify the CPU model and Linux distribution, then check whether temperature sensors are exposed. Use a graphical or command-line sensor reader appropriate to your distribution. If no CPU temperature appears, check support for that CPU and the mini-PC maker’s documentation before concluding that the machine is overheating.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck the CPU reading during the stream
- Identify the hardware and software. Note the mini-PC model, CPU model and operating system. These details are needed to identify the right sensor and find the applicable temperature guidance.
- Open the monitoring utility. Find a reading identified as the CPU package or CPU core when the app distinguishes it. Avoid treating a generic system-board or drive temperature as the CPU temperature.
- Compare idle and streaming operation. Observe the reading before starting the stream and again during normal playback. It should change plausibly with the workload; an implausible or missing value may indicate sensor or driver support issues rather than a confirmed cooling fault.
- Review a graph over time, if available. A snapshot cannot show whether temperature remains elevated. CAM advertises temperature graphs, and Nexus documentation describes history features. Review a representative period of ordinary streaming rather than relying on one moment.
- Note symptoms alongside temperature. Record fan noise, thermal throttling, dropped frames or unexpected shutdowns if they occur. A temperature reading alone does not prove that the stream is affected or identify the cause.
- Check the exact model’s guidance. Compare the observed reading with documentation for the specific processor and mini PC. There is no universal safe CPU temperature established for every mini PC and streaming workload.
What a temperature reading can—and cannot—tell you
Monitoring software reads sensors made available by the processor, board and operating system. A missing sensor, unclear label or implausible number may reflect firmware, driver or utility support. It does not by itself establish that the cooling system has failed.

The CPU, mini-PC model, room conditions and operating system all affect which sensor appears and how its reading should be interpreted. No model-specific maximum, safe target or thermal test for continuous cartoon streaming is established here. Find the limit and cooling guidance for your exact hardware rather than applying a generic internet temperature threshold.
Monitoring is diagnostic, not a cooling remedy. The available evidence does not show that this particular mini PC needs a stand, external fan or repair. Consider a cooling intervention only if the model guidance and observed symptoms point to a cooling problem.

Troubleshoot common monitoring problems
No CPU temperature is shown
- Check whether the utility supports your operating system and processor architecture.
- On Linux, check whether the relevant hardware-monitoring sensors are exposed through the kernel and drivers;
coretemp,k10tempandhwmonare useful terms, not guaranteed labels. - Consult the mini-PC maker’s documentation and confirm the exact CPU model before assuming overheating.
The number looks implausible or does not change
- Confirm that the selected row is a CPU package or core sensor, not a board, storage or other temperature reading.
- Compare idle and normal-stream readings. If the value remains suspect, check model and driver support or try a utility that supports the hardware.
The stream drops frames or the mini PC shuts down
- Record the temperature trend together with the timing of the symptom, fan behavior and any sign of throttling.
- Do not infer that temperature caused the problem from one reading. Check the device-specific guidance and investigate other possible causes as well.
Security software flags a utility
Do not turn off antivirus protection or create a broad exclusion to proceed. The Open Hardware Monitor project notes that antivirus vendors have sometimes flagged it; use a source and installation you can verify, or choose another monitoring option.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded cartoon stream live on YouTube, StreamNeo is an alternative to leaving this mini PC running as the streaming machine. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and it does not monitor your mini PC’s temperature. The basic setup is:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud.
Because the stream runs in the cloud, nothing has to stay on at home. StreamNeo streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
