For a quick check, request SRS’s HTTP API summary at /api/v1/summaries. For ongoing history, dashboards, and alerts, use the SRS Prometheus exporter with Prometheus; add node_exporter to see whole-host resource use. Which fields and settings are available depends on your SRS release and configuration, so verify the instructions against the version you run.
Check SRS CPU and memory usage with its HTTP API
SRS provides an HTTP API for system and stream status. On a server where the API listener is enabled and reachable, try the summaries endpoint locally:
curl http://127.0.0.1:1985/api/v1/summaries
The SRS v5 documentation demonstrates the summaries route on port 1985. The response includes summary information such as CPU and memory usage; exact fields can vary with release and configuration. Use the host and port configured for your server if they differ.
Keep the API on a trusted network or access it through an appropriately protected route. The documentation does not establish a universally safe public exposure pattern; do not expose an administrative API port directly to the public internet without suitable access controls.

Try a more specific endpoint when needed
The SRS v4 API reference also lists endpoints for more focused views:
/api/v1/rusages/api/v1/self_proc_stats/api/v1/system_proc_stats/api/v1/meminfos
Availability and returned fields depend on the installed release and configuration. Treat these as endpoints to verify against your version, not as a guarantee that every SRS installation exposes identical data.
Choose between a quick check and continuous monitoring
| Approach | Best use | Pair it with | Main caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| SRS HTTP API summaries | Immediate inspection or a small custom integration | More specific SRS API endpoints when supported | API availability and system-stat configuration affect the result. |
| SRS Prometheus exporter | Ongoing SRS metrics, history, and dashboards | Prometheus; Grafana for dashboards | Confirm the exporter instructions support your installed SRS release. |
| Host exporter alongside SRS | Whole-machine context | node_exporter scraped separately by Prometheus |
It complements SRS metrics; it does not replace the SRS endpoint. |
The API is simpler for a one-off reading. The exporter setup adds components but lets Prometheus retain time series for dashboards and alerting. The official SRS example uses Grafana as the visualization layer; it does not provide a universal cost or performance comparison for these approaches.

The SRS exporter guide describes usage for SRS 5.0.86 or later. In its v8 guide, the exporter is off by default, and the documented default listener is port 9972. The guide shows environment variables for enabling and configuring it. Check the current instructions for your installed release before applying a configuration, since defaults and syntax may differ.
Configure Prometheus to scrape SRS and the host
The SRS guide’s sample Prometheus configuration defines separate scrape jobs for the SRS exporter and node_exporter. Its example uses a five-second scrape interval; this is an example value, not a universal recommendation.
global:
scrape_interval: 5s
scrape_configs:
- job_name: srs
static_configs:
- targets: ['127.0.0.1:9972']
- job_name: node
static_configs:
- targets: ['127.0.0.1:9100']
Use target addresses and ports that match your deployment. The sample addresses above assume Prometheus can reach both exporters on the same host. In Docker or a cluster, verify target addressing, port publishing, and whether the Prometheus process can see the relevant host or container network; there is no single networking setup that fits every deployment.

Every 10 minutes the most recent reading is updated on the online portal. Readings are stored on our servers for 1 year and can be downloaded anytime on a CSV file.
Use both SRS and host metrics
SRS-reported process or summary data and whole-machine resource data answer related but different questions. The SRS exporter example includes node_exporter as a separate target so you can put server-level context beside SRS metrics. A host can be under pressure even when an individual process view does not explain the full cause, so inspect both when diagnosing capacity or stream issues.
Check version and statistics configuration
Documentation spans different SRS releases. The v4 API guide describes a stats configuration for retrieving system statistics, including CPU and memory, and discusses network and disk statistics configuration. It notes that stats.network relates to heartbeat system reporting. The v8 API reference lists the summary, process, and memory endpoints above. Do not assume all versions expose the same fields, defaults, or configuration behavior.
The SRS v6 introduction says, “SRS provides an HTTP API open interface to query system and stream status.” The v6 page includes both a stable label and a development-status note, while the v8 API reference marks v8 unstable. Use the documentation for your installed release rather than treating a version label on another page as proof that a specific endpoint or configuration applies to your server.

- 【Remote Control Operations Server】Sipeed NanoKVM is an IP-KVM solution based on the LicheeRV Nano RISC-V Linux single-board computer, inheriting the Nano's compact form factor and powerful capabilities. Breaking free from traditional host requirements for network connectivity and system software, NanoKVM functions as an external hardware device directly providing remote control capabilities.
- 【Powerful Interfaces】Sipeed NanoKVM features one HDMI input port that can be recognized by a computer as a display to capture screen content. One USB 2.0 port connects to the computer host, functioning as a HID device (e.g., keyboard, mouse, touchpad). It also utilizes spare TF card storage space, mounting it as a USB flash drive device.

Interpret readings without relying on a universal threshold
The official materials cited here do not establish a single CPU percentage or memory value that is safe for every SRS server. Establish a baseline under your own stream and viewer load, then watch for sustained changes and correlate them with stream quality and available host capacity. A brief spike and a persistent upward trend are not equivalent; investigate the pattern in context rather than acting on one isolated reading.
Troubleshoot missing or confusing metrics
- The API request fails: Confirm the API listener is enabled, the host and port are correct, and the request is made from a network that can reach it. Check the relevant SRS release documentation for its configuration.
- The summaries response lacks expected fields: Verify your SRS version and system-stat settings. The v4 API guide describes a
statsconfiguration, but settings and fields are not established as identical across releases. - Prometheus reports the SRS target as down: Confirm the exporter is enabled, its listener is reachable from Prometheus, and the configured target matches the actual address and port. The SRS v8 guide says the exporter is off by default and documents port 9972 as its default listener.
- Host metrics are missing: Check that
node_exporteris running and configured as a separate Prometheus target. For containers or clusters, validate network visibility and port publishing for that environment. - Metrics are hard to interpret: Compare the SRS readings with host-level metrics and your own baseline under representative stream and viewer load. The documentation does not define a universal health threshold.
Keep the YouTube stream running without a home monitoring setup
For creators who want an uploaded-video YouTube stream to remain live 24/7 rather than manage a streaming server at home, StreamNeo runs the stream in the cloud: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only.
