Start with the official website for the court that provides the forms you use. Search its forms pages for a form-change notice or email subscription; alerts are jurisdiction-specific, not part of one universal court-form system. Washington Courts offers email notifications when forms are added or revised, while California’s Judicial Branch lists recent form changes and says forms may be available before their effective date.
Find alerts from the court that owns your forms
First identify the jurisdiction and court whose forms you actually file or use. Then open its official forms page and look for terms such as “form changes,” “revised forms,” “notification services,” “email updates,” or “subscribe.” Availability varies: the official examples below show two approaches, not a nationwide alert service.
- Open the relevant court system’s official website and go to its forms page.
- Search that site for form-change notices or notification subscriptions.
- If it offers a form-specific email subscription, enroll and save the subscription-management page so you can change or cancel it later.
- If no alert is documented, bookmark the official form-change page and check it when you need to use a form.
- When a change is announced, download the form from the court’s official page and check its revision or effective date against the filing context.
Examples: Washington and California
Washington Courts: email notices
The Washington Courts Administrative Office of the Courts eService Center says users can register on its Notification Services page for an email when a form is added or revised. Select the form-related notification category; the page also lists other types of notices. The help article, modified March 29, 2024, points subscribers to subscription maintenance for managing an active subscription.

The California Judicial Branch’s Forms & Rules page links to Judicial Council forms and a Latest Form Changes section. It says new and revised forms will be available for download a week before their effective date. This is California-specific information, not a general rule for other courts.

Keep form alerts separate from case alerts
Some federal courts offer RSS feeds through PACER for alerts about newly docketed case activity. These feeds summarize docket activity and link to documents or docket reports; they are not general notifications that court forms have changed. Check whether a court offers a feed through PACER’s RSS case-alerts FAQ.
PACER also has an email subscription for announcements about PACER and other federal Judiciary electronic public access services. Those announcements are not a court-form revision feed; see PACER Announcements.

What to verify when a form changes
- Scope: Confirm the notice applies to the court and form you need.
- Version and dates: Open the current form from the official court page and check any revision or effective date against the filing situation.
- Subscription coverage: Check which kinds of forms or changes an email subscription covers; do not assume it monitors every court or every form.
- Maintenance: Keep the subscription-management link if you may need to update or cancel email notices.
The sources do not prescribe a universal checking interval or version-verification standard. Use the court’s own page and instructions rather than treating another jurisdiction’s timing as a rule.

You receive court emails, but no form-change notices
Review the subscription categories and make sure you selected the form-related option. For Washington, use the subscription-maintenance route referenced by the eService Center article to manage an active subscription.
An RSS feed shows activity but not a revised form
PACER RSS is for case docket events. Use the court’s official forms page or form-specific notification service to monitor forms.

A form’s dates are unclear
Use the version linked from the responsible court’s official forms page and look for revision or effective-date information there. If the page does not resolve which version applies to your filing, check with the court or a qualified legal professional rather than relying on an unrelated alert.
