To check an ongoing YouTube broadcast remotely, sign in to the channel’s YouTube Studio, open the current stream in the Live area, and inspect its Live Control Room stream health and duration. You can also check documented live metrics from an Android device, though the details available can depend on how the stream is produced. YouTube documents the same workflow for creators in India; it does not describe a separate India-only monitoring process.
Check a live stream in YouTube Studio
- Sign in with the right channel account. Use the Google account authorized to manage the channel and its broadcast.
- Open the Live area in YouTube Studio. Find the broadcast currently in progress. YouTube’s creator guide groups streams as Live Now, Upcoming, and Live Replay; select the current one, not a scheduled or past stream. YouTube’s live-streaming guide describes the Studio management workflow.
- Open the stream’s Live Control Room or dashboard. Check Stream health or stream status for reported sending problems. YouTube says stream status can include specific errors and instructions. See your live stream’s metrics — Computer.
- Check duration and technical status together. A duration that continues advancing indicates the broadcast clock is progressing; stream health/status is where YouTube reports technical errors. If an error appears, follow the on-screen guidance and contact the person who can inspect the encoder or production setup.
Which live metrics answer which question?
The Live Control Room combines technical status with audience measurements. Treat them as different signals rather than using a popular or quiet audience as a proxy for stream health.

YouTube lists these as distinct real-time metrics. Live Control Room figures are also not identical to the processed, despammed data later shown in YouTube Analytics. YouTube says live metrics become available in Analytics within minutes after the stream ends. YouTube’s metrics guide.
Monitor from an Android phone
YouTube documents stream status and real-time metrics on Android. Sign in to YouTube Studio or the documented Live management interface with the channel account, open the current broadcast, and review the status and metrics shown for it. The Android metrics guide notes mobile metrics, while YouTube also explains that metrics vary by streaming method.

For an encoder-produced always-on stream, verify what the signed-in interface actually exposes on your particular device. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console as streaming methods; encoders can support overlays and connected production equipment. A phone is a way to access the dashboard, not a guarantee of uninterrupted connectivity or a replacement for an operator who can reach the encoder. Get started with live streaming.
Plan for interruptions and long broadcasts
The documented dashboard supports checking reported status and metrics; the cited YouTube material does not establish guaranteed alert delivery, remote encoder control, or automatic restart after a network interruption. Arrange an independent way to contact someone able to inspect or restart the production system. If preserving the full feed matters, keep a local recording as an operational safeguard.

YouTube’s mobile creator guide says broadcasts up to 12 hours are automatically converted to video-on-demand, and says longer broadcasts should be recorded by the team for manual upload.
