To monitor a website with screenshot alerts in Slack, choose a service that checks the kind of change you care about, connect its Slack app or webhook, and route useful alerts to a dedicated channel. First decide whether you need uptime alerts, ongoing visual-change detection, cross-browser screenshot tests, or simply a way to capture and share an image: those are related jobs, but not interchangeable.
Choose what should trigger an alert
Start by defining the signal. A screenshot is evidence to inspect, not a diagnosis: it can show what a page looked like when a check ran, but it does not by itself establish the technical cause of a failure.
- Uptime or load failure: Alert when a page cannot be reached or does not load as expected. Confirm that the chosen monitor can include a screenshot when a check fails.
- Visual or content change: Use a recurring visual-change monitor that compares captures over time. Check what areas it compares, how often it checks, and whether you can filter routine or low-severity changes.
- Browser or release regression: Use automated screenshot testing when you need tests in browser or device environments, often as part of development or a release workflow. Look for failure details and test metadata alongside the screenshot.
- Capture and share: If you only need an image posted or shared, a screenshot-capture integration may be enough; it is not necessarily a continuous monitor and may need another service to decide when to capture.
Match a service to the job
These examples describe different categories, not a head-to-head performance test. Check each provider’s current documentation, plan, and permissions before connecting it to a workspace.

| Service or category | What the cited source describes | Best fit | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Website screenshot API and MCP server. Its documented capabilities include capture options and an API, but it is not described here as a continuous visual-change monitor or a native Slack alert integration. | Capture a page on demand or build a custom workflow that sends captures to Slack. | You will need to supply the monitoring trigger and Slack delivery workflow yourself. |
| SiteGauge | Its product page describes recurring website monitoring, before-and-after screenshots, Slack, email, and webhook alerts, and filtering. | Ongoing visual-change monitoring with Slack notifications. | Current check frequency, alert filters, history, supported Slack route, and current plan limits or prices. |
| TestMu AI | Its Slack Marketplace listing describes launching automated screenshot tests from Slack and sharing issues with screenshots and test information. | Slack-driven automated screenshot testing. | Browser/device coverage, test workflow, available Slack commands, and investigation details. |
| TestingBot | Its product information describes Slack alerts when tests pass or fail, with screenshot and platform metadata. | Receiving test-result alerts with visual context. | Supported test environments and the details included in your chosen configuration. |
| ScreenshotsCloud and ScreenshotCenter | The ScreenshotsCloud Slack Marketplace listing describes configurable website screenshots, including viewport and full-page options. ScreenshotCenter describes posting completed captures to Slack. | Capture and share images, rather than assuming continuous monitoring is included. | Who triggers captures, full-resolution access, and whether the tool supplies monitoring or only delivery. |
| Webhook alerting | Super Monitoring documents sending its website-monitoring alerts to a Slack webhook. | Routing alerts from a monitor that supports webhooks but does not have the Slack app you want. | Message format, endpoint handling, channel destination, test delivery, and vendor setup instructions. |
Slack Marketplace listings establish what the listed apps describe; a listing should not be read as Slack endorsement or certification. Exact setup and features depend on the service and its current offering.

Connect the monitor to Slack
- Confirm the check and route. On the provider’s current setup page, verify that your account or plan supports the check type, screenshot context, and Slack delivery you need.
- Use the provider’s Slack app if available. Follow its current installation and authorization flow. Slack’s guidance is to add monitoring tools so the right people see time-sensitive notifications. See Slack’s help for adding apps to a workspace.
- Otherwise, configure its documented webhook route. Follow the provider’s instructions for creating or selecting the Slack destination and providing the webhook endpoint. Treat that endpoint as a credential: restrict access and do not put it in public code or logs.
- Choose a destination channel. Use a channel relevant to the site, service, or incident workflow; names are up to your team. Check the channel’s membership and notification practices so the alert reaches the people expected to respond.
- Send a test alert. Confirm that Slack receives the message in the intended channel and that links, screenshots, and test details are accessible to the people who need them.
- Review real alerts and tune noise. Check for false positives and adjust the monitored area, threshold, or severity filters if the service supports them. SiteGauge describes alert filtering; do not assume another provider offers the same control.
Slack also documents building internal integrations using its API. That route gives a team more control, but it requires implementing and maintaining the integration; for a third-party monitor, prefer the vendor’s documented app or webhook setup unless you specifically need a custom integration. See Slack’s API documentation.
Make alerts useful for triage

- The check time and relevant test or platform details.
- A screenshot or before-and-after comparison, when available.
- A link to the full result, history, or test report.
Screenshot and metadata support varies by product. For example, TestingBot describes screenshot and platform metadata with pass/fail alerts, while SiteGauge describes before-and-after screenshots. Check the service’s actual message and result page rather than assuming an image is attached or that it explains the root cause.
Or skip the browser setup
If your workflow needs a screenshot capture rather than a built-in continuous monitor, ScreenshotNeo can return an image or PDF from one GET request. It can accept cookie banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and other MCP clients. Slack alert triggers and delivery still need to come from your monitor or your own workflow.
Use this cURL example to capture a page; replace the example URL and put your API key in place of the key value. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options and response details.

Troubleshoot missing or noisy alerts
- No message appears in Slack: Confirm the integration is installed or the webhook is configured according to the provider’s current instructions. Check the destination channel, authorization, and test delivery before changing the monitor.
- The message arrives without an image: Verify that the selected service and alert type include screenshot attachments or links. Some capture tools only post a completed image; a separate monitor may be needed to trigger it.
- There is an image but no clear cause: Open the full monitor or test result and inspect its status and metadata. A screenshot shows appearance, not necessarily the network, application, or test failure that produced it.
- Visual alerts are too frequent: Inspect examples for routine content changes or changes outside the meaningful part of the page. If supported, adjust the monitored region, threshold, or severity filter; verify each change against subsequent checks.
- A screenshot test fails but the page looks normal: Use the associated test and platform information and full result link. A single screenshot may not capture intermittent or environment-specific behavior.
