To monitor a website only during business hours, set both the active weekdays and a daily start and end time, then confirm the schedule’s timezone. The exact controls depend on the service: Visualping supports selected days and one shared daily time window, while Distill offers time slots for local monitors and reserves cron schedules for Enterprise. For Distill local checks, the browser or app must stay running.
Choose what to monitor
Start with the page or section whose changes matter. A whole-page monitor can catch broad updates; selecting a specific element can make alerts easier to interpret when you only care about, for example, a price, availability notice, or announcement. Visualping documents monitoring either an entire page or a selected element (Visualping help).
Set business-hour checks in Visualping
- Open the monitor and go to Schedule.
- Select the weekdays on which checks should run.
- Adjust the time boxes to set the start and end of the permitted daily window.
- Confirm the workspace timezone. Visualping says schedules use that timezone; Business plan users can set it explicitly, while other plans inherit the user timezone.
- Check the next scheduled run and verify that the selected days and hours match your intended coverage.
Visualping’s Advanced Scheduling supports selected days and a custom time range, but the documented feature provides one shared time block for all active days—not different hours for each weekday. Its help article describes the feature as running monitors within a specific timeframe (Advanced Scheduling).

Set time slots in Distill
Distill supports interval schedules generally and time slots for local monitors. In a local monitor’s schedule settings, choose the start time, end time, and days. Distill gives weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM as an example (How to schedule checks for web monitor?).

Choose local or cloud monitoring
- Local monitor: Checks run on your device. Keep the relevant browser or app running during the scheduled window; if the device or app is unavailable, it cannot perform local checks.
- Cloud monitor: Checks run on Distill’s servers rather than depending on your device being active.
Distill documents cron scheduling for specific recurring times as an Enterprise-plan feature. If you need a schedule more complex than the available time slots, confirm that your plan supports the required controls before relying on it (Distill scheduling documentation; local and cloud monitors).
Verify the schedule before relying on alerts
- Check that the next run falls inside your chosen window.
- Confirm the correct weekdays are enabled and overnight or weekend checks are excluded as intended.
- For local monitoring, verify the device timezone and ensure the browser or app remains open during the window.
- For Visualping, verify the workspace timezone rather than assuming the schedule follows the timezone you expect.
These checks validate the configuration; they do not guarantee that a monitored site will always be reachable or that every change will be detected.

Troubleshooting schedule problems
- Checks run at unexpected hours: Compare the schedule with the service’s controlling timezone. In Visualping, check the workspace timezone; on a Distill local monitor, check the device/app timezone used for its schedule.
- A local Distill monitor misses checks: Confirm that the device is on and the browser or app is running for the scheduled period. Consider a cloud monitor if checks should not depend on a local device.
- You need different hours on different weekdays: Visualping’s documented Advanced Scheduling has one shared time range across its selected days. Distill’s documented local time slots use a start and end time with selected days; check the current interface and plan for any more granular requirement.
- You need exact recurring run times in Distill: The documented cron option is limited to Enterprise. Confirm plan availability before building a process around it.
