To monitor a page behind a login with Fluxguard, add its login URL to a session, configure the login actions or basic-auth credentials, then crawl again and verify the screenshot shows the authenticated page. Use the service only for sites you own or are authorized to access.

Choose the login method the page actually uses

Fluxguard documents two different authentication paths. A standard login form needs actions for its username field, password field, and submit button. A browser-style basic-auth prompt uses credentials in Session Settings under the Crawl tab. These are not interchangeable: choose based on what the target site presents.

  • Standard form: the page displays fields and a sign-in or submit control.
  • Basic authentication: the browser presents an authentication prompt rather than a page-based login form.

Fluxguard’s password-protected page tutorial says users may log in only to their own sites or sites where they have permission.

Set up monitoring for a standard login form

  1. Add the login URL to Fluxguard and run an initial crawl. This captures the unauthenticated page so you can configure its fields and controls.
  2. Configure the form actions. Identify the username field, password field, and submit button, and set the corresponding actions in the page setup.
  3. Set an appropriate wait after submission. If the site takes time to authenticate or render, increase the wait before capture. Fluxguard’s tutorial gives 6,000 milliseconds as an example, not a universal recommended value.
  4. Run another crawl and inspect the capture. Confirm the screenshot shows the intended logged-in content—not the login screen, an error, or an incomplete loading state.
  5. Add any other pages you need to monitor to the same session after login. Fluxguard says session continuity preserves cookies, local storage, and more across pages.

In the documented sequence, adding the login page again can let Fluxguard capture both the login page and what appears after authentication. Confirm the resulting capture rather than assuming the sequence suits every site.

Configure a basic-auth prompt

  1. Add the protected URL to Fluxguard.
  2. Open Session Settings, then the Crawl tab.
  3. Enter the authentication details there and run a crawl.
  4. Inspect the result to confirm Fluxguard reached the protected content.

This path applies to a browser-style basic-auth prompt. If the site instead displays a username-and-password form, configure form actions as described above.

Handle additional steps after sign-in

Some sites require more than submitting credentials to reach the content to monitor—for example, another form submission, a selection, or a click. Fluxguard’s setup guides cover form actions, clicks, selections, and JavaScript actions. Reproduce only the steps necessary to reach the intended page state, then crawl and validate the capture. The exact action sequence depends on the site.

Troubleshoot captures that do not show the protected page

  • The capture still shows the login form: check that the username and password actions target the correct fields and that the submit action targets the correct control. Run another crawl and inspect its result.
  • The capture is blank, incomplete, or shows a loading state: the page may need more time after submission. Adjust the wait, then crawl again; the 6,000-millisecond example is not a guarantee for your site.
  • The page displays an error after login: verify that the chosen method matches the site’s authentication prompt and that the configured actions reproduce the necessary steps. If additional interactions gate the content, configure those actions too.
  • One page works but a later page does not: place the pages in the same session so the authenticated session state can carry forward, and verify each page’s capture.
  • The flow remains unsuccessful: compare the configured steps with the actual permitted user workflow and consult Fluxguard’s tutorial. Do not attempt to bypass access controls.

Check plan fit and credit use

Fluxguard’s pricing page currently lists Standard (Periscope) at $110 per month and includes Form Submission Tracking for changes behind logins and gated content. It also lists a seven-day free trial for paid plans. These are displayed terms and can change, so check the current pricing page before choosing a plan.

The displayed site-count estimate assumes about ten pages per site crawled once daily; Fluxguard cautions that actual usage varies under its credit system. Its FAQ says each crawled page deducts one credit, while optional AI summaries, translation, and enhanced proxy use additional credits. Estimate usage from your page count, crawl frequency, and selected options rather than treating the displayed site estimate as a fixed allowance.

Or skip the browser setup

For a screenshot rather than recurring authenticated change monitoring, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It cannot replace Fluxguard’s session-based monitoring of a protected page, but a one-request capture can be useful for supported screenshot workflows.

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Its clean-shot steps can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets, with each step configurable. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; response headers indicate the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
