To check what viewers are actually receiving, keep Larix Broadcaster running on your streaming phone and open that live event’s YouTube watch page on a second phone, tablet, or computer. Check both the picture and the sound. Larix showing that it is connected is useful, but it does not by itself confirm that YouTube playback looks and sounds right.
Monitor the YouTube playback on a second device
- Start the Larix broadcast. In Larix Broadcaster, stream to the intended YouTube Live destination using the current connection details for that event. Larix’s Android listing identifies YouTube Live as a destination and RTMP/RTMPS as supported protocols. Follow the current instructions in YouTube and Larix for setting up your account and connection; the steps and details can depend on your account and event.
- Open the event’s watch page elsewhere. On a second phone, tablet, or computer, open the public or unlisted YouTube watch page for the live event, according to its visibility setting. If the event is private or otherwise unavailable to that device, use an account with the required access or choose an appropriate visibility setting.
- Check the image and sound. Confirm that the expected picture appears and that the audio is audible and correct. If you are monitoring on a phone or tablet, keep its volume low or use headphones to reduce the chance that its speaker feeds back into the streaming phone’s microphone.
- Check the broadcaster and platform indicators too. Look at Larix’s status and any stream-health or incoming-preview information available in YouTube’s current live controls. A 2021 guide from the Anglican Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands recommends watching YouTube Stream Health and the incoming video preview, but its interface directions should not be treated as a current, exact UI walkthrough.
There is no guaranteed playback delay established here, so do not use a specific number of seconds as a pass/fail test. The important check is whether the event becomes viewable and whether its picture and sound are right on the audience-facing watch page.
What each monitoring view can tell you

These views answer different questions. Use the watch page for confidence monitoring and broadcaster-side indicators to help investigate an issue. A viewer-side symptom alone cannot tell you whether the cause is Larix configuration, network conditions, YouTube ingest, event visibility, or playback.

Troubleshoot a missing or incorrect picture or sound
- The event does not appear on the second device: Check that you opened the correct event and that its visibility permits that device to watch. Then check Larix’s status and YouTube’s available incoming-preview or stream-health indicators. The missing playback alone does not isolate which part of the route is responsible.
- Video appears, but the sound is missing or wrong: Listen on the second device and compare what you hear with the intended audio source. If you recently connected external audio, monitoring the actual YouTube playback can reveal what reaches the viewer; a Google Play user review describes using another device this way, but it is an individual account, not a controlled test or official troubleshooting rule.
- The second device creates an echo or feedback: Lower its volume or use headphones so its speaker is less likely to be picked up by the streaming phone’s microphone.
- You need to change or manage a remote Larix device: Consider Larix Tuner for remote device management and streaming statistics. Continue to use the YouTube watch page separately when you need to check audience-facing playback.
- You route the broadcast through Restream: Its dashboard may help you inspect performance and viewer counts for that routed stream. It is not required for a direct Larix-to-YouTube stream.
Use a spare device; no special model is needed
A spare phone, tablet, or computer is sufficient for the second-screen role. The available evidence does not establish that one device model is better for monitoring. If you do not already have a suitable device, consider whether a basic second screen is worthwhile for your setup rather than buying a particular brand or model on the basis of an unsupported recommendation.

Can I monitor a Larix stream without a second device?
You can inspect broadcaster-side status and available YouTube stream information on the streaming setup, but the second device lets you check the event as a viewer.

Does Larix Tuner show the same thing as the YouTube watch page?
No. Tuner is for remote Larix device management and streaming statistics; the watch page is where you check audience-facing YouTube playback.
