Do not replace ScraperAPI by swapping a hostname and hoping the results match. Start by inventorying every ScraperAPI integration, then test candidate services against the same representative pages and required output. The right migration may be a full replacement, a workload-by-workload move, or no change at all.

What to inventory before changing providers

ScraperAPI is not just one endpoint. Its documentation describes synchronous and asynchronous endpoints, a proxy port, structured-data endpoints, DataPipeline, language SDKs for some languages, and MCP. Replacing only the synchronous call can leave jobs or integrations behind. Search application code, deployment configuration, secrets, scheduled jobs, and agent configurations for ScraperAPI hostnames, API keys, SDK calls, proxy settings, and provider-specific parameters. ScraperAPI documentation

  • Record every invocation path: synchronous requests, async jobs, proxy port, structured endpoints, DataPipeline, SDKs, MCP, and framework integrations.
  • For each call type, note volume, target domains, geography, content type, rendering or extraction needs, cookies and session behavior, concurrency, retries, timeouts, and downstream parsing.
  • Capture which request parameters are actually used, including headers, cookies, user agent, and proxy or rendering options.
  • ScraperAPI documents a 50 MB request-size limit and recommends a 70-second application timeout. Identify code that relies on either value; confirm current account and endpoint terms before treating them as migration guarantees.

ScraperAPI describes a credit-based model in which cost depends on the target site and request parameters. Its synchronous overview says flat requests typically cost one credit, with added costs possible for certain domains or parameters. Its billing documentation describes a 1,000-credit monthly free plan and a seven-day, 5,000-request trial. These are vendor-documented terms, not fixed industry benchmarks; verify current commercial terms for your account before budgeting. ScraperAPI documentation

Define what a successful replacement means

Before trying another provider, convert the current workload into a test matrix. A provider returning HTTP 200 is not necessarily returning the same useful page, fields, headers, or cookies your application expects.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Include representative static HTML pages, JavaScript-heavy pages, geographic variants, pages requiring cookies or sessions, and domains that currently trigger retries or anti-bot errors.
  • For each sample, define the required fields or content and a correctness check, such as field presence, expected page markers, or body completeness.
  • Record response status, schema, body completeness, missing fields, latency, retry count, and billed units for each attempt.
  • Use the same URL set, requested data, and acceptance criteria across providers. Keep a record of date and configuration because vendor behavior and terms can change.

Do not infer a success rate for your target sites from a feature list or a vendor comparison page. Published interfaces establish what a vendor documents, not how a service will perform against your specific workload. No comparative tests are established here.

Map the API contract before rewriting callers

Make a side-by-side contract map for ScraperAPI and each candidate. This is where ostensibly similar scraping APIs often diverge. Verify each point against current provider documentation and a small test request before changing production code.

Contract area What to compare
Request shape HTTP method, endpoint, target URL encoding, query parameters versus JSON body, and API-key location. Keep keys in server-side secrets, not public browser code.
Response shape Raw page body versus JSON envelope, any base64 encoding, target status and headers, cookies, redirects, and error representation.
Failure behavior Client timeout, provider limits, retryable errors, rate or concurrency limits, and whether failed requests consume credits or other billable units.
Browser and proxy behavior JavaScript rendering, wait conditions, screenshots, selectors and extraction, proxy type, geography, session persistence, custom headers, and user-agent support.
Scale and workflow Response-size limits, concurrency, request-per-minute ceilings, async or batch support, webhook behavior, SDK coverage, and monitoring or usage endpoints.

Parameter names that look familiar do not prove compatibility. A useful example of how much the contract can differ appears in Zyte’s guide for migrating from ScrapingBee to Zyte: it describes a GET request with query parameters and a direct target body on one side, versus a Zyte JSON POST and JSON response object on the other. It also distinguishes concurrency limits from requests-per-minute limits. Those details concern that specific ScrapingBee-to-Zyte comparison; they are not a ScraperAPI-to-Zyte mapping. Choose candidates by workload, not by label

Treat named alternatives as candidates for a controlled evaluation, not as drop-in replacements. The available documentation supports comparing their published capabilities, but it does not establish which provider will work best for a particular set of target domains.

Compare the expected cost of completing the same successful work, not plan names or raw request counts. A request that needs JavaScript rendering, a particular proxy tier, retries, or another paid option may have a different effective cost from a basic request.

  1. Group your inventory by request configuration and target type.
  2. Estimate the monthly volume in each group, including the retry rate you observe in your own system.
  3. Apply each provider’s current documented billing rules to those groups, accounting for rendering, proxy mode, or other options actually required.
  4. Compare cost alongside completeness, latency, and operational effort. Do not count a cheap incomplete response as equivalent to a correct result.

ScraperAPI uses credits and says target sites and parameters affect cost. ScrapingBee documents different credit costs for plain proxy requests, JavaScript rendering, premium proxies, and combinations. 1. Implement an adapter. Put provider-specific request construction and response parsing behind a small internal interface, so callers do not need provider-specific changes everywhere.
  2. Keep credentials separate. Store each provider key in server-side secrets and make routing configurable rather than embedding a provider choice in application code.
  3. Replay a representative sample. Send the same requests to the incumbent and candidate, and compare the fields and page content your application actually consumes.
  4. Canary a small share. Route a limited, representative portion of live work to the candidate while retaining the incumbent path for comparison.
  5. Alert on regressions. Track status changes, missing fields, latency, retries, quota consumption, and spend against the agreed acceptance criteria.
  6. Expand or roll back. Increase traffic only after the candidate meets those criteria. Keep the routing switch reversible so a failed rollout can return to the incumbent path.

This is a recommended migration method, not a report of a migration or benchmark that has been performed.

Troubleshoot common migration failures

  • The new provider returns an error or empty response. Check whether it expects the target URL in a JSON body rather than a query parameter, requires encoding, or returns an error envelope that your parser treats as page content.
  • Pages load but required fields disappear. Confirm that JavaScript rendering, wait conditions, cookies, headers, or extraction settings match the requirement. Compare the returned body, not only the HTTP status.
  • Redirects or target status differ. Determine whether the provider returns the final page, preserves target status and headers, or uses its own response status. Update downstream logic only after validating the intended semantics.
  • Timeouts rise after cutover. Check client timeout against the candidate’s documented limits, then separate slow targets from connection or provider failures. Preserve bounded retries and monitor whether each retry is billable.
  • Rate limiting appears unexpectedly. Distinguish concurrency ceilings from per-minute request limits; lower parallelism or shape traffic to the documented account limits.
  • The bill is higher than the request count suggests. Check feature-specific credit or unit costs, target-domain pricing rules, retries, and duplicate work. Compare cost per correct result rather than calls sent.
  • Large pages fail or truncate. Compare response-size limits and the size of returned content with both providers’ documented constraints; ScraperAPI documents a 50 MB request-size limit, which should not be assumed to apply to the replacement.

Or skip the browser setup

If part of your workload is capturing page screenshots rather than extracting arbitrary structured data, ScreenshotNeo is a focused website screenshot API and MCP server for developers, not a general replacement for a web-scraping API. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For example, using the documented cURL pattern:

ScreenshotNeo API documentation

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners as a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. These capture features do not make it a substitute for a scraping API when your job requires arbitrary data extraction. Sign up free for 1,000 screenshots a month, no card required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a ScraperAPI migration mean moving every workload at once?

No. You can evaluate and move specific request classes independently, provided routing, credentials, and monitoring support a reversible split.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does ScraperAPI’s recommended 70-second timeout mean every request should take 70 seconds?

No. It is a documented application-timeout recommendation, not a promise that requests complete within that time or a mandate to wait that long on every call.

Can ScreenshotNeo replace a general web-scraping API?

Not for general extraction. It is for website screenshots, page information, and PDF capture; use it only for screenshot-oriented parts of a workload.
