Yes, a compatible Galaxy Watch can take blood pressure readings through Samsung Health Monitor, but it does not replace a blood-pressure cuff: you must first calibrate it using an upper-arm cuff monitor, then recalibrate every 28 days. You also need a compatible Galaxy phone, and availability depends on your country and device software.
What you need before you start
- A supported Galaxy Watch and a Galaxy smartphone that meet Samsung’s requirements for your region.
- The Samsung Health Monitor app on both devices, with the watch paired to the phone over Bluetooth.
- A third-party upper-arm blood pressure cuff for calibration. Samsung says the cuff is sold separately and does not publish an approved cuff-brand list. Choose one that fits your arm circumference and follow its instructions.
Compatibility is not identical across regions or support pages. Samsung’s US feature page lists Galaxy Watch4 and later Galaxy Watches, excluding Galaxy Fit; its March 31, 2026 US announcement specifies Wear OS 4.0 or later and Android 12 or later. Samsung’s Ireland instructions include Watch Active2 and Watch3 as well as later models and require a Galaxy phone running Android 12 or later. Check Samsung’s US feature page or your local Samsung support page and confirm the feature appears on your devices. Samsung said the US rollout would begin in phases on March 31, 2026, so access may not be available to every US user at once: Samsung Newsroom’s US rollout announcement.
Calibrate the watch with an upper-arm cuff
Calibration is required before the watch can measure blood pressure. The cuff provides three reference readings that the watch uses to calibrate its estimates. Put the cuff on one upper arm and wear the watch on the opposite wrist. Enter the cuff readings in Samsung Health Monitor when prompted.
Prepare for calibration
- For 30 minutes beforehand, avoid smoking, bathing, exercise, alcohol, and caffeine.
- Use a quiet indoor setting. Make sure the skin on your arm and wrist is dry and free of lotion.
- Sit with your back supported, feet flat, and legs uncrossed. Rest your forearms on a table and sit quietly for at least five minutes before measuring.
- During each cuff reading, stay still, do not speak or move the cuff arm, and breathe normally.
Take and enter the three cuff readings
- Open Samsung Health Monitor on your Galaxy phone and start the blood pressure calibration flow.
- Put the cuff on one upper arm and the watch on the opposite wrist. Follow the app’s on-screen instructions for taking the first cuff reading.
- Take and enter three cuff readings within a 30-minute window, following the app’s prompts for each measurement.
- Keep the watch on the same wrist for subsequent watch measurements. Recalibrate every 28 days; Samsung also allows recalibration sooner through the app.
Samsung’s detailed instructions are available on its US blood pressure support page. Calibration has its own operating range—systolic 80–170 mmHg and diastolic 50–110 mmHg in Samsung’s US specifications—which is not a clinical threshold.

Take a blood pressure reading with the watch
- Wear the watch snugly, but not tightly, on the same wrist used during calibration.
- Follow the same preparation guidance: avoid smoking, bathing, exercise, alcohol, and caffeine for 30 minutes; ensure your wrist and arm are dry and lotion-free; then sit quietly for at least five minutes in a quiet indoor place.
- Sit with your back supported, feet flat, and legs uncrossed. Rest your forearm on a table.
- On the watch, open Samsung Health Monitor, select Blood pressure, tap Measure, review the prompt, and tap OK.
- Stay still and do not talk while the watch measures. Review the systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse shown on the watch.
When Bluetooth connects to the Galaxy phone used for calibration, Samsung says the reading syncs to Samsung Health Monitor on the phone. Samsung lists a US watch measurement range of systolic 70–180 mmHg and diastolic 40–120 mmHg. These are product operating specifications, not evidence of clinical accuracy or diagnostic limits.
If “Blood pressure” is missing or setup does not work
- Check regional availability first. Samsung restricts the service by country or region because medical-device approvals and registrations differ. A device bought in another country may not have access. Check Samsung’s current local information and whether the feature is available in the app on your devices.
- Confirm device and software requirements. Make sure the watch is a supported model for your region, the phone meets the local Android requirement, and the watch is paired to a Galaxy phone. Samsung’s US pages specify Wear OS 4.0 or later and Android 12 or later for the US feature.
- Update and complete setup. Update the watch through Galaxy Wearable, open Samsung Health Monitor, and follow its profile and setup prompts. The feature requires calibration before watch readings are available.
- Consider region changes before resetting or reinstalling. Samsung warns that factory-resetting a device or reinstalling the app while travelling in a region where the service is unavailable can restrict access.
Regional information can change: Samsung’s Ireland country list was last updated July 28, 2025, while the US rollout announcement is dated March 31, 2026. Neither is a universal, always-current availability list. See Samsung’s Ireland feature information for its regional guidance.

Know the feature’s limits and safety guidance
Samsung describes blood pressure monitoring on Galaxy Watch as a wellness feature, not a tool for diagnosing or treating high blood pressure or another condition. Do not use a watch reading to change medication or dosage, or to make clinical decisions without speaking with a qualified healthcare professional. Samsung’s US announcement states that the feature is not intended for diagnosing disease or other conditions, or for curing, mitigating, treating, or preventing disease.

Restrictions can vary by region. For example, Samsung’s Ireland instructions say not to use the app if you are under 22 or have certain conditions, including arrhythmia, prior heart failure or heart attack, compromised circulation, aortic valve disease, cardiomyopathy or other cardiovascular disease, end-stage renal disease, diabetes, certain neurological disorders such as tremors, clotting disorders, or prescribed blood thinners; they also list a tattoo on the watch wrist. Samsung Australia’s page, updated August 10, 2026 and limited to Australian products, also lists pregnancy. These are not a single universal list: consult the Instructions for Use for your region and ask a clinician whether the feature is appropriate for you. Samsung’s Ireland instructions are at Samsung Health Monitor for Ireland, and its Australia guidance is at Samsung Health Monitor for Australia.

Blood pressure is a significant health concern, but population statistics do not establish how accurate a particular watch reading is. The CDC says 48.1% (119.9 million) of US adults had high blood pressure under its stated definition—systolic pressure greater than 130 mm Hg, diastolic pressure greater than 80 mm Hg, or taking medication for high blood pressure—based on NHANES estimates from 2017 through March 2020; its page was updated in 2026. See the CDC’s high blood pressure facts and statistics.
