Download tracks in the app before you go offline; if you move to another device, your account-linked favorites and playlists may carry over, but downloaded track data does not. Nintendo’s current support pages do not document a menu path for deleting downloads or checking how much space they use.
Where Nintendo Music downloads work
The Nintendo Music app for smart devices supports offline listening after you download music in advance. The web version is streaming-only: it does not support downloads or offline playback. See Nintendo’s offline listening FAQ and web-version download FAQ.
How to prepare tracks for offline listening
While connected to the internet, use the Nintendo Music app to download the music you want available offline. Nintendo advises downloading ahead of time; the web version cannot be used to create offline downloads. The official support information cited here does not establish a download limit or the storage required per track, so there is no reliable figure to use for estimating space.
What happens when you change phones or devices
Sign in on the second device with the same Nintendo Account to carry over supported account data, including favorites and playlists. Downloaded audio data is local to the device and does not transfer; download those tracks again on the new device. Nintendo also notes that some settings and listening history do not transfer. Details are in Nintendo’s device-transfer FAQ.

Fix downloads that will not play offline
If you have been offline for an extended period
Nintendo says downloaded tracks expire after an extended time offline. Its support notice dated September 2, 2026, says to connect the device to the internet, open Nintendo Music, and leave the app running for about 30 minutes so it can recover. On Android, the app may remain in the background while you use other apps. On iOS, keep it open in the foreground; sleeping or backgrounding the app interrupts the procedure. Follow Nintendo’s support-code troubleshooting instructions.
If one particular track still fails
Nintendo’s same notice describes an Android issue after app version 1.7 in which downloaded tracks may fail offline even if the user connects regularly. If only a specific track is affected, play that track while online once, then try it offline again. These directions are tied to Nintendo’s September 2, 2026 notice and may change as the app is updated.

Can you delete downloads or check their storage use?
The official Nintendo Music support information cited here does not specify how to remove one downloaded track, clear all downloads, or view the app’s storage usage. Consult the app’s current guidance or Nintendo Music Support rather than guessing at a menu path or applying another streaming app’s steps.
Do not use Nintendo Switch console storage instructions to manage music downloaded in the smart-device app. Nintendo’s Switch data-management page covers console software and console free space, not Nintendo Music downloads on a phone or tablet.
