To repeat a prerecorded product demo on YouTube Live, send it through an encoder or playout tool that can loop the file, then test the handoff between the last and first frames in a private or unlisted stream. YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control repeats ordinary video playback; it does not create a live feed. A smooth repeat depends on your source file and playout tool, and YouTube does not guarantee that third-party loop transitions will be gapless.

What “without a gap” means for a live demo

A YouTube Live broadcast receives a continuous outgoing feed from an encoder. The encoder or playout application—not the YouTube watch-page player—must repeat your prerecorded demo. YouTube describes an encoder as a tool that converts video into a digital format for streaming: YouTube’s encoder setup guide.

There are two potential interruptions to check: a break in the outgoing stream, and an awkward transition in the media itself. A connected stream can still show a black frame, silence, a jump in product position, or a pause when the file restarts. Conversely, a cleanly edited file cannot prevent a network or encoder interruption. There is no platform-wide YouTube guarantee that every third-party loop transition is gapless, so judge the result using your actual file and chosen tool.

Prepare the demo for a clean repeat

Make the ending meet the beginning

Review the final seconds and opening seconds together. Aim for continuity in the product’s position, camera movement, background, lighting, and sound. Remove unintended black frames or silence at the end. If a fade, title card, or pause is part of the intended presentation, make sure it reads as deliberate rather than as a dropped feed.

For a product demo, check whether the final shot can plausibly lead into the first shot. If it cannot, consider editing a transition or a short closing-and-opening segment into the file. A looping tool repeats media; it cannot make an abrupt editorial cut feel continuous by itself.

Choose a tool with an explicit repeat function

Use an encoder or playout application—software or standalone hardware—that explicitly supports looping prerecorded local media or repeating a playlist. Do not assume every encoder has this feature, or that every option for scheduling prerecorded media repeats indefinitely. YouTube names AJA PlayToStream as a way to schedule prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer, but that alone does not establish that every model or setup loops seamlessly. Check the current documentation for the exact product and configuration you plan to use.

  • Confirm the tool can repeat the file or playlist without ending the outgoing stream.
  • Confirm it can run unattended for the full session you intend to broadcast.
  • Check that it supports your file’s resolution and frame rate, and YouTube’s ingest requirements: YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.
  • Plan how you will monitor the output and respond if the source, encoder, or network fails.

Set up and test the YouTube Live feed

  1. Enable live streaming if this is your first time. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and follow the prompts to enable streaming. YouTube says initial enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until just before the event. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
  2. Create or select the live stream. In Live Control Room, set up the stream and copy its stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s instructions explain where these values go in your encoder settings: encoder setup and stream settings.
  3. Configure the playout source. Add the finished demo file or playlist to the tool, enable its explicit repeat or loop option, and configure the outgoing stream using the URL and key from Live Control Room. Follow the selected tool’s own instructions for its controls; names and locations vary by product.
  4. Start the encoder and inspect the incoming preview. Use a private or unlisted test stream where appropriate. YouTube recommends testing and reviewing the preview before going live: streaming tips and encoder settings.
  5. Watch through a complete repeat. Check the end-to-start transition for picture, sound, and any unintended content jump. A brief preview before the first playback reaches the end is not enough to validate the loop point.
  6. Start the public event only after the test passes. Keep an eye on the live output and stream health while broadcasting. For YouTube’s monitoring advice, see its streaming guidance.

Settings and YouTube features to understand

Stream URL and stream key

The stream URL and stream key connect your encoder’s outgoing feed to the YouTube stream you selected in Live Control Room. Treat the key as a credential: enter it only in the encoder or service you intend to use, and avoid sharing it publicly. YouTube documents stream keys and related controls such as auto-start and auto-stop in stream settings.

Resolution, frame rate, and ingest settings

Choose encoder output settings that suit the source and YouTube’s current technical guidance rather than assuming one setting fits every demo. Check YouTube’s encoder settings recommendations for supported ingest configuration. The selected playout tool must also support the media and output mode you plan to use.

Loop, DVR, and archive are different things

The YouTube player’s Loop control repeats an ordinary video or playlist for a viewer; it is not a control for generating the live feed. See YouTube’s player Loop help. DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, or resume during a live stream; it does not loop the source media. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end; this is an archive behavior, not a promise that a stream can loop indefinitely. Details are in YouTube’s encoder guide.

Copyright and content checks before broadcasting

Having permission to use a video file does not automatically establish permission to broadcast every element in it. Check the demo’s footage, music, graphics, product imagery, and any third-party material for rights that cover a live YouTube broadcast. YouTube’s live-stream settings and policies may affect whether content can be streamed or remain available. Review the current YouTube stream settings guidance and any applicable rights-holder terms before scheduling a public stream.

A repeated prerecorded demo should also be useful and appropriate for the audience throughout the broadcast. Avoid implying that prerecorded footage is happening live. YouTube’s setup documentation explains the technical stream workflow; it does not guarantee that a particular video meets every policy or monetization requirement.

Troubleshoot a bad repeat or interrupted stream

What you see or hear Likely place to check What to do
Black frame, silence, or pause at the repeat point The file’s end and beginning, or the playout tool’s loop behavior Inspect the boundary in the source file and test the repeat in the actual outgoing preview. Edit out unintended blank or silent frames, or adjust the transition if the tool provides that control.
The demo stops after playing once The encoder’s playlist or repeat setting Confirm that repeat is explicitly enabled for the source or playlist, and that the tool supports looping prerecorded media rather than only playing it once.
The stream does not appear in Live Control Room Stream URL, stream key, and selected YouTube stream Compare the encoder destination and key with the values shown for the selected stream in Live Control Room. Correct any mismatch and check YouTube’s stream settings help.
The preview looks or sounds wrong Encoder output, source media, or ingest configuration Check the source and the encoder’s output settings against YouTube’s technical guidance, then run another test and inspect both picture and audio.
The encoder or feed stops during the event Tool reliability, source availability, or network connection Check the encoder and source, restore the outgoing feed, and monitor Live Control Room. Test unattended operation for the planned duration; no universal third-party loop limit or gaplessness guarantee is established by YouTube’s cited setup guidance.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps prerecorded videos running without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo runs the uploaded video or playlist from the cloud. Upload your recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Your loop point still needs to be prepared and checked in the source video.
