To replace the compact incoming-call banner with a full-screen call interface, go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Incoming Calls and select Full Screen. On some iOS versions, Phone appears directly in Settings. This changes the call layout; it does not guarantee that the caller’s photo fills the display.
Show incoming calls in full screen
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Phone. If Phone appears directly in Settings on your iOS version, tap it there.
- Tap Incoming Calls.
- Select Full Screen.
The setting controls how much of the screen the incoming-call interface occupies: Full Screen uses the full-screen call view instead of a compact banner. Apple’s current settings documentation places Phone under Settings > Apps > Phone, but the menu location can differ across iOS releases.
Full-screen call layout versus a caller’s picture
These are separate controls. The Full Screen option changes the incoming-call interface on the phone receiving the call. A contact photo or Contact Poster is identity information associated with a person; changing the call layout does not force that image to appear edge to edge.

Caller information can come from contacts, caller directories, business call identification, or caller-identification apps. The image and identity details available may therefore vary by caller and configuration; a full-screen call setting is not a guarantee of uniform photo presentation.

Edit your own photo or Contact Poster
A Contact Poster is a personalized photo, Memoji, or emoji design that can appear on the screen of the person you call. To edit yours:
- Open Contacts and tap My Card.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap your contact photo, then choose and customize a photo and poster.
- Review Name & Photo Sharing to choose how to share the updated image. Apple documents Contacts Only and Always Ask options.
Updating your own poster concerns what others may see when you call them. It does not change the incoming-call layout setting on their iPhones, and it does not set a particular caller’s photo on your phone.
