Turn on Wi-Fi Calling and connect your iPhone to reliable Wi-Fi. If your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling for your account and region, it lets you make and receive carrier voice calls where cellular coverage is weak or absent. Apple describes it as a way to call “in an area with little or no cellular coverage.”
If Wi-Fi Calling is unavailable or the Wi-Fi signal does not reach the room where you need to call, check carrier options before buying equipment. A cellular signal booster is a separate, conditional solution—not a substitute for Wi-Fi Calling.
Turn on Wi-Fi Calling on your iPhone
- Open Settings and tap Cellular.
- If you use dual SIM, select the phone line you want to use.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling, then turn on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- Follow any prompt to enter or confirm your address for emergency services.
Apple says a Wi-Fi indicator appears in Control Center when Wi-Fi Calling is available. The setting and service depend on carrier and regional support; if the option is missing or calls fail, ask your carrier whether Wi-Fi Calling is supported for your account and device. Not every Wi-Fi network works with the feature. See Apple Support’s Wi-Fi Calling instructions.
What to do if Wi-Fi Calling is not working
Try the least disruptive checks first. Apple recommends confirming that Wi-Fi Calling is enabled and the iPhone software is current, then working through these steps:

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
- Restart the iPhone.
- Connect to a different Wi-Fi network and try again.
- Turn Wi-Fi Calling off, then turn it back on.
- Consider Reset Network Settings only if the earlier steps do not help. This is a later troubleshooting step and can affect saved network settings; review Apple’s reset guidance before proceeding.
If the feature still fails, contact your carrier to check account and device support. A Wi-Fi connection alone does not guarantee that a particular network or carrier will allow Wi-Fi Calling.
Know the limits of call handoff and emergency calling
If Wi-Fi drops during a call
An active call may switch to cellular service using VoLTE if Wi-Fi is lost, but only when VoLTE is available and enabled. That fallback may not preserve a call in a place where cellular reception is weak.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
For emergency calls
Apple says emergency calls use cellular service when it is available. If cellular service is unavailable and Wi-Fi Calling is enabled, an emergency call might use Wi-Fi; location information may help emergency responders. Confirm the emergency-services address registered with your carrier, and do not rely on Wi-Fi Calling as a guaranteed route to emergency help. Apple also warns that emergency alerts may not be received while connected to Wi-Fi Calling.

| Option | Best fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi Calling | Cellular service is weak or absent, but usable Wi-Fi reaches the calling location. | Carrier support for your account and region; whether the Wi-Fi network works with the feature. |
| Improve home Wi-Fi coverage | Wi-Fi Calling is supported, but Wi-Fi itself is weak in the room where you need to call. | Whether better Wi-Fi coverage reaches that location. A mesh Wi-Fi system can address Wi-Fi coverage, but it does not boost cellular signal and is not an Apple-endorsed Wi-Fi Calling solution. |
| Cellular signal booster | You need improved cellular coverage rather than a Wi-Fi-based calling route. | Confirm carrier and band compatibility for your location and phone, and verify the equipment meets applicable FCC requirements before buying or installing it. |
The FCC describes certification and network-protection requirements for consumer signal boosters under applicable rules. Its guidance does not establish that a particular model will work with a given carrier, band, address, or phone. Check with your carrier and the equipment documentation for those specifics. See the FCC’s signal booster guidance.
