In OBS Studio, add your piano track or audio-and-video file as a Media Source, turn on Loop, and send the scene to YouTube using the stream URL and key from Live Control Room. That makes OBS replay the file when it ends. It does not smooth the musical join: for a seamless-sounding loop, the recording itself must transition cleanly from its ending back to its beginning.
What “seamless” means in a YouTube music loop
There are two separate jobs: making the media player repeat, and making the audio sound continuous at the repeat point. OBS can repeat a file or playlist, but its documented Loop setting does not claim to crossfade the ending into the beginning or repair a musical discontinuity. A loop can therefore be enabled and still have a click, a gap, a sudden change in volume, or an awkward musical jump.
Use a source recording whose last moment connects naturally to its first. Listen to the boundary repeatedly before relying on the stream. The OBS documentation explains playback looping, but does not establish a universal editing method that will make any piano file join seamlessly.
Choose a single track or a playlist

Both approaches repeat media; neither removes a discontinuity at an individual file’s boundary. With a playlist, check transitions between tracks as well as the transition from the last item back to the first.

Prepare the music and verify your rights
Use music you created or have permission to livestream and archive. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to hold the necessary rights, including music licensing rights: YouTube livestream terms. Crediting a composer or owning a copy of a recording does not, by itself, establish livestream permission.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A stream can be interrupted or terminated, and even licensed third-party music may cause an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Set up the loop in OBS
- Prepare your source. Decide whether you are using one local audio/video file or a VLC playlist. Play the source outside the live broadcast and inspect the ending-to-start transition. Listen for silence, a click, a volume jump, or a musical phrase that does not resolve into the opening.
- Add a single file. In OBS, select or create the scene for the broadcast, use Sources → + → Media Source, then choose the local file. Enable Loop in the Media Source properties and confirm the source is visible or audible in the OBS preview. The exact dialog appearance can vary by OBS version; the relevant setting is documented on the OBS Media Sources page.
- Or add a playlist. Install VLC if necessary, then add the VLC Video source, choose the playlist files in the desired order, and enable Loop Playlist. Confirm the VLC source appears and plays correctly before connecting to YouTube.
- Listen to the repeat point. Let the source play through to its end and restart. Repeat this check as needed. If the boundary sounds abrupt, replace or revise the source recording; simply switching on Loop will not create a crossfade.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube lists a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days among its requirements. Its current general setup page says a livestreamer must be at least 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming requirements for the current rules that apply to your channel.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to broadcast. Find the encoder connection details in the stream settings.
- Copy the stream URL and key into OBS. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Enter the URL and key in OBS’s stream/encoder settings, following Manage live stream settings and YouTube encoder setup. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start the encoder and inspect YouTube’s preview. Confirm the expected image and piano audio arrive in Live Control Room before making the stream public or sharing it. YouTube recommends preparing encoder streams in advance, checking access on watch/channel pages and mobile, and continuously monitoring audio and video quality: YouTube live-streaming tips.
Monitor the broadcast and its archive
During the stream, keep an eye on both the OBS output and YouTube’s preview. Pay particular attention to the first repeat boundary: verify that audio resumes without silence or an abrupt level change, and that the picture continues as intended. YouTube’s guidance recommends ongoing audio and video monitoring rather than assuming a successful encoder connection means the whole broadcast is healthy.
YouTube Help says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If your piano broadcast may run longer, check the current YouTube interface and policy before depending on archive behavior. End the broadcast deliberately, then check the channel’s archive if you need a recording.

Troubleshooting a piano loop
