To save an Indian court website page as a PDF, open it in Google Chrome on a computer, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux or Command+P on Mac, choose Save as PDF as the destination, review the preview, and save. Then reopen the PDF and check it. Record the exact page URL and the date and time you captured it. A browser PDF documents the page as it appeared; it is not automatically a certified court copy or legally sufficient evidence.
Save the court webpage as a PDF in Chrome
- Open the exact case-status or other court webpage in Google Chrome on your computer. Wait for the relevant case details to finish loading.
- Open the print dialog using File > Print, Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. These are the Chrome print steps and shortcuts documented by Google Chrome Help.
- In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF if it appears as a destination. Review the preview and page range so the pages you need are included, then save the PDF.
- Reopen the saved file. Check that the relevant case information is present and readable, and that no text is clipped or pages are blank.
- Name the file descriptively, and keep a note with the exact source URL and capture date and time. For example, the note can identify the case page, URL, and when you saved it.
Print-to-PDF records the rendered webpage, not necessarily the complete underlying case record. Page layout, small text, or content that did not load may affect what appears in the PDF.
Check whether the court provides the order or judgment PDF
If you need an order or judgment, look for the official court document before relying on a browser printout. The Supreme Court of India’s e-Committee describes the eCourts portal as providing case-related information, daily orders, and final judgments searchable by CNR, case number, court number, party name, or order date (eCourts services). The official High Court services page says an order or copy of a judgment can be opened on an exhibit to view it in PDF format (High Court services).

Keep the official PDF when it is the document you need; a printed webpage and an order PDF serve different purposes. If you also need to show what the portal displayed, preserve the page separately.

Understand what the PDF does—and does not—establish
A webpage saved as a PDF is not automatically a certified court copy or automatically admissible evidence. The eCourts portal tells users to cross-check information with the authorities concerned or the relevant record and states: “The information made available here is not meant for legal evidence.” See the eCourts portal notice.
The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA) addresses electronic records. Sections 61 and 62 make their treatment subject to Section 63; Section 63 sets conditions for computer outputs and describes a certificate provision when an electronic record is sought to be given in evidence. Section 63 came into force on 1 July 2024. Consult the official India Code BSA text. This is general information, not a determination that a particular PDF meets statutory requirements, proves a fact, or satisfies a court’s filing rules. For formal use, check the applicable court procedure and ask a lawyer or court office whether a certified copy or certificate is required.

Preserve a clear, traceable record
- Wait until the relevant case details have loaded before capturing.
- Record the exact URL and date and time of capture in a case-document log or separate note.
- Review the print preview and page range before saving.
- Reopen the PDF and inspect for missing details, clipped text, unreadable small print, or blank pages.
- For an order or judgment, locate and keep the official court PDF when available.
- If the PDF is intended to document what was displayed, retain an unchanged copy. Save any annotated or highlighted version separately.
These steps improve readability and traceability. They do not certify the webpage, establish its legal admissibility, or replace court-specific filing requirements.

Troubleshooting a court webpage PDF
“Save as PDF” is not shown
Check the print dialog’s destination options for a PDF destination. If it is unavailable, use another supported print-to-PDF option on your computer or check whether the court portal offers a direct PDF for the document you need.

The PDF is blank or misses case details
Return to the webpage and wait for the relevant details to appear before printing. Reopen the print dialog and inspect its preview; do not assume content visible on the screen will necessarily appear in the saved file.
Text is clipped or too small to read
Review the preview and page range, and verify the saved output after printing. If the page remains unreadable or incomplete, look for the court’s original order or judgment PDF rather than treating the printout as a substitute.

You need a formal court record
Do not treat a browser PDF as a certified copy. Check the applicable court’s procedure and ask the court office or a lawyer what document or certification is required for your purpose.
