For a record of an online collection, use your browser’s full-page screenshot feature, then inspect the saved file from the first item to the bottom edge. In Firefox, enable the full-page screenshot button in Developer Tools and click it, or run :screenshot --fullpage in the Web Console. Save the page URL and capture date alongside the image so you can identify what it shows later.
Take a full-page screenshot in Firefox
- Open the collection page you want to preserve.
- Open Developer Tools settings and find Available Toolbox Buttons. Enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Click the screenshot icon in the Developer Tools toolbar. Firefox saves the image in the browser’s Downloads directory.
- Open the saved image and check that it includes the collection’s final items and bottom edge.
Mozilla also documents the Web Console helper :screenshot --fullpage for capturing beyond the visible viewport. The helper supports options including --filename, --delay, and --dpr. Use a distinct filename for each capture: Mozilla warns that another capture using the same filename overwrites the earlier image. See Mozilla’s Web Console documentation.
For a selected panel or element rather than the entire collection, Mozilla also documents “Screenshot Node.” A setting can copy a screenshot to the clipboard, which is useful for a temporary copy rather than the default recordkeeping workflow.

Capture commands and output formats vary by browser version and platform. Routes reported for desktop browsers include Edge Web Capture’s full-page option, Firefox’s full-page capture, Chrome DevTools’ full-size screenshot, and Safari’s PDF export. On mobile, iPhone Safari has a Full Page option and Android devices may offer scrolling capture. These labels and capabilities are not universal; confirm the option available in your version and inspect the saved result rather than assuming it captured everything. When a browser extension may help
If your browser’s built-in capture does not suit the task, GoFullPage is an optional Chrome extension. Its Chrome Web Store listing says to click its icon or use Alt+Shift+P; it scrolls through the page and assembles a capture. The listing describes PNG, JPEG, and PDF exports, and says very large captures can be split into images in separate tabs. The listing showed version 8.9, updated September 25, 2026. An extension adds an installation step, and no method is guaranteed to render every site structure correctly. GoFullPage listing in the Chrome Web Store.
Check that the saved file is a useful record
- Identify the source. Make sure the image shows the page title and enough context to identify the collection. If the title is outside the captured area, record it separately.
- Verify completeness. Inspect the full image, especially the last items and bottom edge, for truncation or missing content.
- Label the file. Keep the page URL and capture date in the filename or an adjacent note; for example,
collection-name_2026-10-03.png. This is a practical label, not browser-generated proof of the capture date. - Keep the original unchanged. If you may need to demonstrate what you captured, retain the original image file. A screenshot is a dated visual snapshot, not a continuing copy of a collection that may change.
- Choose the format for the task. A single tall image is convenient to inspect as one continuous visual record. Consider PDF when page-sized pagination, printing, or sharing is more useful; export behavior depends on the browser or extension.
Handle pages that do not capture cleanly
A full-page command does not guarantee that every kind of interface will be represented correctly. Dynamic collections, embedded frames, and nested scroll areas can require particular attention. Inspect the output for missing or repeated content; if the built-in capture misses the relevant area, use a method that can capture that page structure and verify its output before relying on it.
