To run your own cartoons as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast, send a repeating playlist through an encoder to YouTube Live. Uploading episodes to YouTube by itself does not create a 24/7 live stream. You can run the encoder on a computer you keep on, or use a cloud service that loops uploaded videos. Before setting it up, check your channel’s live-stream eligibility and make sure you have rights to every cartoon, song, voice, and clip in the feed.
What you need before you start
- A live-eligible YouTube channel. YouTube says you must verify your channel and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its live-streaming guidance also states a minimum age of 16. Check the current requirements at YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
- Your cartoon videos and a repeatable playlist. Prepare the episodes or shorts in the order you want them to play. Exact playlist and repeat controls depend on the encoder or hosting service you choose.
- An encoder or hosting service that sends a live feed. YouTube identifies encoder streaming as a way to deliver a continuous program. OBS is one software option; consult its official help portal for current setup guidance.
- Permission to use every asset. Use cartoons, music, voices, and other material you own or are fully cleared to broadcast.
How to set up a 24/7 cartoon stream yourself
1. Confirm YouTube Live access
Sign in to the channel that will host the broadcast and verify that live streaming is available. YouTube’s eligibility rule is no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and a verified channel. The platform also lists a minimum live-streaming age of 16. If your channel is not eligible, resolve the issue before preparing a continuous broadcast.
2. Choose where the encoder will run
For a do-it-yourself setup, run streaming software such as OBS on a computer that stays powered on and connected to the internet. The computer must remain available for the broadcast to continue; a power loss, software crash, or lost internet connection can interrupt the feed. An always-on computer is one option, not a YouTube requirement.
YouTube’s encoder workflow is intended for sending a live program feed. OBS is an option to investigate, but the exact current steps for loading and looping media depend on its version and configuration. Check the software’s current documentation rather than assuming a particular menu or loop control.

3. Build and test the cartoon playlist
Arrange your episodes or shorts into a sequence in your chosen encoder or hosting service, then configure that sequence to repeat if the software supports it. Test the entire playback path before announcing the stream: confirm that the video and audio play as intended, the sequence advances, and the repeat behavior works. Keep local copies of your source videos and playlist so you can restore them if needed.
4. Connect the encoder to YouTube Live
Use YouTube’s current encoder setup screen to create or configure the broadcast and connect the encoder using the stream details YouTube provides. Follow YouTube’s current protocol guidance; it documents RTMPS as a secure live-ingestion method. See YouTube’s encoder streaming guidance for current connection instructions.

Do not guess resolution, frame rate, bitrate, or keyframe settings from a generic recipe: the YouTube sources cited here do not establish specific values for this cartoon workflow. Use the current recommendations shown by YouTube and the encoder’s documentation for your connection and source material.

5. Start the broadcast and monitor it
Start the feed from the encoder or hosting service, then check YouTube Live Control Room to confirm that the stream is arriving and playing correctly. Keep an eye on the dashboard for interruptions or warnings, particularly after making changes to the playlist or connection. YouTube lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key; these are concurrent-stream caps, not a maximum duration or a guarantee that an individual broadcast will run continuously.

Copyright and YouTube rules for cartoon streams
Live content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content, and detection can interrupt a stream. A license to use a song or clip may not prevent an interruption if the rights owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Whenever possible, use original or fully cleared cartoons, music, voices, and other assets, and ask rights holders about allowlisting when you rely on licensed material. See YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming copyright issues.
A successful live connection does not establish that a channel is eligible for monetization, nor does it guarantee that an extended broadcast will be archived for a particular length of time. Check YouTube’s current rules for the outcomes that matter to your channel; keep your own source files and playlist rather than relying on a YouTube archive as your only copy.

Local computer or cloud hosting?
The two approaches differ in what you must keep running and how you manage the media. A local encoder gives you direct control from your own machine, while cloud hosting can keep the feed running without relying on a home computer. Compare the ongoing service cost with hardware and power costs, as well as storage, playlist controls, recovery behavior, and how easily you can inspect the live feed.
| Consideration | Local encoder | Cloud hosting |
|---|---|---|
| What stays on | Your streaming computer and internet connection must remain available. | The service runs the feed in the cloud; the exact service capabilities vary. |
| Playlist and storage | Managed through your computer and chosen software. | Check the provider’s storage allowance and playlist controls. |
| Interruption recovery | Depends on the encoder, computer, and internet connection. | Check whether the provider automatically reconnects after an interruption. |
| Cost | Consider equipment, electricity, and internet costs. | Compare the service’s plan and billing period with your local running costs. |
Or let it run in the cloud

Troubleshooting common problems
YouTube will not let the channel go live
Check that the channel is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Also confirm that the person operating the stream meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement.
The stream does not appear or stops arriving
Confirm that the encoder is using the current connection details shown in YouTube’s setup screen and that the computer or hosting service is online. If you use a local encoder, check the computer’s power, network connection, and software status. For protocol or connection errors, follow YouTube’s current RTMPS and encoder guidance rather than reusing stale stream details.
The cartoons do not repeat
Check the playlist’s repeat or looping configuration in the encoder or hosting service you selected. Loop controls are software-specific; consult that product’s current documentation and test the sequence before relying on it for a continuous broadcast.

YouTube interrupts the broadcast over content
Review YouTube’s warning and identify the detected material. Replace content you do not own or have permission to use, or ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
The broadcast is live, but an archive is missing or incomplete
Do not assume a stream of this length will be archived for a particular duration. Save the original episodes and playlist yourself, and check YouTube’s current live-stream and archive guidance for your channel.
