To keep Minecraft survival episodes live on YouTube around the clock, connect an encoder to a YouTube broadcast and keep the game, computer, and internet connection running. YouTube’s setup supports gameplay streams, but a 24/7 schedule also needs a continuity plan: a single stream lasting 24 hours is not guaranteed to archive as one complete recording, and YouTube may interrupt a live stream over detected third-party content.
What a 24/7 Minecraft stream requires
YouTube’s encoder workflow is the platform-side connection: YouTube provides a server URL and stream key, which you enter in an encoder before starting the broadcast. For Minecraft survival gameplay, the game must also be producing video and audio, and the machine running it and its network connection must remain available. That is a practical operating requirement, not a YouTube guarantee of uninterrupted service.
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream.
- Minecraft running in the survival world you want to show.
- An encoder configured with YouTube’s stream URL and key.
- A computer and internet connection that can sustain the chosen game and stream settings.
- A plan to monitor and recover the game, encoder, or connection if one stops.
YouTube’s encoder guide does not prescribe a Minecraft-specific unattended launch, watchdog, or restart setup. Treat automatic recovery as something to design and test, not something the basic connection flow guarantees.
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility first
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. It also states that the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable access well before a planned launch; that window is not a guarantee that a channel will be approved or eligible. See YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.

Set up the Minecraft encoder stream
- Choose how to capture the game. Use an encoder that can capture the Minecraft gameplay and any audio or narration you want viewers to hear. YouTube describes encoders as software or standalone hardware for sharing a screen or broadcasting gameplay. A microphone is optional for silent gameplay; add one if you plan to narrate.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a live stream or schedule one. A scheduled stream can provide a watch page for promotion. YouTube’s interface can vary by account, so follow the controls currently shown in Live Control Room.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream setup, get YouTube’s server URL and stream key, then enter them in your encoder’s stream settings. Treat the key as a credential: do not show it on stream or share it publicly, because it connects your encoder to your channel’s broadcast.
- Choose output settings your setup can sustain. Set resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval in the encoder according to its controls and your hardware and connection. The YouTube and Minecraft sources cited here do not establish one correct bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or computer specification for every Minecraft stream. Avoid choosing settings based on an assumed universal number; test the output and stability with your actual game, encoder, and connection.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that the gameplay appears in Live Control Room and that audio is correct, if used. Then start the broadcast using the controls presented there. YouTube’s encoder guide documents the connection and live workflow, but exact labels may change.
- Test the unattended routine. Before advertising a continuous stream, observe what happens when Minecraft closes, the encoder stops, or the network drops. Decide who or what will notice and restore the session. Test any restart or reconnection arrangement under your own setup; the official sources do not promise that Minecraft, an encoder, or YouTube will automatically resume a 24/7 broadcast.
Plan continuity and archive boundaries
YouTube’s encoder help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a single 24-hour session will be retained as one complete recording. If keeping a replay matters, plan broadcast boundaries and check the archive after a test. For continuous viewing, decide whether you need planned session transitions or a more technical arrangement using YouTube’s Live Streaming API. The API explains the distinction between broadcast and stream resources and documents a 24/7 broadcast setup, but it is developer documentation rather than a beginner restart walkthrough: Understanding Broadcasts and Streams.
There is a trade-off. Planned boundaries make archive expectations easier to manage but create transitions viewers may notice. A more technical continuous arrangement can involve more setup and monitoring, and it still does not remove the need to test recovery. Check the encoder, game, and network during a trial before presenting the channel as uninterrupted.

Keep gameplay and music within the rules
Minecraft gameplay and monetization
Minecraft’s Usage Guidelines allow gameplay videos and streams, including ad revenue under stated conditions: the content must remain free to view and include enough unique creator contribution. Commentary is given as an example; simply adding a logo, website address, or overlay to gameplay may not be enough. The guidelines also restrict using gameplay to advertise unrelated products or services in specified cases.
YouTube says monetization of a live stream is available to creators in the YouTube Partner Program. Neither that fact nor a long broadcast means raw, unattended gameplay automatically qualifies for monetization. Review the current Minecraft guidelines and YouTube requirements before relying on revenue.

Copyright and music
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder, warning, interruption, or termination if it persists. If you have permission to use third-party content, YouTube says the rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID; otherwise the live stream may still be interrupted. Copyright handling for an archive is separate. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
Minecraft’s music guidance distinguishes approved Minecraft-owned music from other licensed music. Approved Minecraft music may be used for non-commercial content and qualifying commercial content that follows the Usage Guidelines. Other licensed music generally requires permission from the rightsholders. Do not assume every track heard in Minecraft is cleared for a livestream, and do not treat an external track as safe without confirming its license. See Using Minecraft Music in Videos and Streams.

Troubleshoot common interruptions
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| No preview in Live Control Room | The encoder is not connected, or its YouTube connection details are incorrect. | Check that the encoder has the current stream URL and key from the intended YouTube broadcast, then confirm the encoder is running. |
| Stream stops when nobody is watching locally | Minecraft, the encoder, computer, or network may have stopped or disconnected. | Check which part of the chain failed and test your monitoring and restart procedure. Do not assume the game or encoder will relaunch itself. |
| Broadcast is interrupted or replaced by a warning | YouTube may have detected third-party content, including music. | Review the live copyright notice, remove or replace disputed material, and use only content you have permission to stream. A license may require the rightsholder to allowlist your channel through Content ID. |
| A 24-hour replay is incomplete or absent | YouTube’s encoder guidance only states automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. | Plan and test session boundaries if complete archives matter; do not rely on one 24-hour broadcast being retained as a single archive. |
Or let it run in the cloud
For a Minecraft survival episode that has already been recorded, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping uploaded video looping as a YouTube stream. It does not capture or broadcast a live Minecraft camera or game session, so use the encoder method above when viewers need to see gameplay as it happens.
To use StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps the uploaded video streaming without a computer or home connection left running. It supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its plan details, then start the free day.
