To make a 24/7 YouTube stream of a Ladakh windstorm, prepare an original or properly licensed audio-and-visual program, send it through a computer-based encoder to a YouTube livestream, and monitor the output. YouTube supports ongoing broadcasts, but the service does not supply a looped windstorm recording for you. Be accurate about what the sound represents: unless you made and verified a recording in Ladakh during a storm, describe it as a designed or Ladakh-inspired wind soundscape rather than an authentic field recording.
Plan the sound and visuals before you go live
Choose what viewers will actually hear and see. You might use your own field recording, create a wind soundscape, or use other media for which you have the necessary rights. Pair it with an original visual or a visual you are authorized to use. Avoid claiming that a recording captures a particular place or storm unless you can substantiate that claim.
Decide whether your goal is uninterrupted listening, a stream that can also be watched later, or both. That choice affects whether you need an archive and how you organize your broadcast; YouTube does not guarantee that a very long, uninterrupted stream will be preserved as one complete video.
Clear every asset for live use
Make sure you have rights to the audio, visuals, and any other third-party material, including permission for livestreaming. YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If a match is identified, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent a Content ID interruption: YouTube says a rights owner may need to add your channel to its allowlist when licensed material is registered with Content ID. Choose how to send the stream to YouTube
YouTube supports streaming from a computer webcam as well as using an encoder. For a prepared ambient program with a fixed image, visual overlays, or a produced audio/video feed, an encoder is the more suitable route: it sends the assembled output to YouTube. Webcam streaming is a simpler computer-based option when you want to stream directly from a webcam setup. YouTube describes these methods in its live-streaming help.

You do not need to buy a dedicated mini PC just because the stream is continuous. YouTube’s guidance supports computer and encoder streaming but does not require a particular machine. An existing computer may be enough if it can run your chosen encoder reliably. Consider a dedicated host only if you want a separate computer for that job; confirm compatibility and operating costs for the exact equipment you choose.

Set up the YouTube livestream
- Check eligibility. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to go live. Its current guidance also says livestreamers must be at least 16. Review the requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming help before scheduling the broadcast.
- Open YouTube Studio and create a live broadcast. Use the live-stream controls in Studio to set up the viewer-facing event, including its title, visibility, and schedule as appropriate. YouTube’s system distinguishes the broadcast viewers see from the stream resource that carries the audio and video.
- Select the encoder option and retrieve the stream details. In the live setup, choose the encoder workflow and use the stream key and connection details shown by YouTube in the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on-screen, publish it, or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in Studio before continuing.
- Prepare the program in your encoder. Add the cleared audio and visual sources, then check the encoder’s output preview. The official materials cited here do not establish a particular encoder application, codec, bitrate, keyframe interval, resolution, or computer specification. Use the current recommendations in YouTube Studio and the documentation for your chosen encoder rather than copying unverified settings.
- Start the encoder and verify the output in Studio. Confirm that YouTube receives a signal, the correct broadcast is selected, and the live preview has continuous audio and the intended visual. Start the broadcast using the controls shown in Studio; do not assume that a connected encoder means the viewer-facing event is already live.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes an ongoing 24/7 broadcast and separates a broadcast from its audio/video stream resource. Keep the stream running and decide whether to archive it
Check the live output after starting and at intervals that make sense for your setup. Look for encoder disconnections, gaps or changes in the sound, a frozen visual, and warnings in YouTube Studio’s stream health information. Keep a way to stop or correct the broadcast if the source media or rights status becomes a problem.

If you need a replay, check the current Studio controls and test archive behavior before relying on a continuous all-day stream. YouTube’s August 12, 2026 explanation of qualified watch hours says qualifying hours come from public long-form videos or archived livestreams; a livestream that is not archived does not qualify on that basis. The guidance does not establish that a 24/7 broadcast will be saved as one complete archive or specify its archive-length behavior. Read YouTube’s monetization eligibility guidance and the August 12, 2026 YouTube update, then verify the available archive controls for your channel.
Make the program original, not just long
A continuous loop is not automatically a strong sleep stream or a route to monetization. YouTube’s monetization policy identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as “inauthentic content,” which is ineligible for monetization. Build a distinctive program: use sound and visuals you created or have rights to use, describe them truthfully, and add meaningful creative decisions rather than relying on duration alone. Watch-hour eligibility and acceptance into the YouTube Partner Program are separate questions; qualifying watch hours do not guarantee approval.

Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a livestream: Check channel verification, age eligibility, and whether the channel has had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Follow the status or action prompts in YouTube Studio.
- YouTube receives no signal: Confirm that the encoder is running, that it is using the current stream details from the intended Studio broadcast, and that the computer has a working network connection. If the key may be wrong or exposed, refresh it in Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream is interrupted by a copyright match: Stop using the matched asset unless you have the necessary live-stream rights. If it is licensed and Content ID registered, contact the rights owner about allowlisting your channel; keep documentation of the license.
- The broadcast is live but has no usable replay: Check archive settings and the resulting video in Studio. Do not rely on a full-day VOD until you have verified what YouTube preserves for your setup.
- The stream runs but appears repetitive for monetization: Reassess whether the program has enough original creative substance. A longer runtime does not by itself resolve the policy concern about repetitive or mass-produced output.
