You can build a YouTube radio-style channel for Indian folk music by looping a playlist in an encoder such as OBS and sending it to YouTube Live. The two essentials are an audio source that actually repeats and rights that cover both livestreaming and any archive. YouTube does not promise a single broadcast will stay live indefinitely, and a music license alone may not prevent a Content ID interruption.
This guide answers: “How to make a 24/7 YouTube Indian folk music radio channel with an audio playlist.” It covers the local OBS setup, YouTube connection, music rights, continuity, and monetization limits.
Before you start: check rights and channel eligibility
Get permission for the music uses you plan
Clear both the sound recordings and the underlying compositions for YouTube livestreaming. If you want to keep or distribute an archive, confirm that the permission also covers that use and the territories where the stream or archive will be available. Save licenses and written permissions.
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies material that remains in the stream, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, or temporarily interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Ask each relevant rights owner whether it uses Content ID and, if so, request that your channel be allowlisted before launch. A licensed track can still be interrupted if the channel has not been allowlisted, and an archived stream may receive a Content ID claim after it ends. Use a channel that can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to use live streaming. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing a public schedule. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains the available methods and requirements.
Choose music and build a playlist that can repeat
Choose audio with a license that covers livestreams
Use original recordings you control or music whose license explicitly permits the planned YouTube live use and, if relevant, archiving. A track being labeled “free,” or adding a credit in the description, does not establish that you have those rights. YouTube points creators to its Audio Library and other sources whose terms permit the intended use in its tips for finding safe music.

Do not assume Creator Music licenses cover a live radio stream: YouTube’s cited Creator Music usage details limit those licenses to long-form videos and exclude livestreams. Check the current terms for every track and source.
Use OBS Media Source for one repeating file
- Install and open OBS, then create a scene for the radio stream.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add Media Source. Choose the audio file you have permission to use.
- In the source properties, enable Loop to repeat that file. Add a simple visual source to the scene if you want viewers to see a channel identity or still image while listening.
- Start a private or otherwise controlled test and verify that the file restarts cleanly when it reaches the end.
Use VLC Video source for multiple files
- Install VLC before configuring the source. OBS notes that VLC and OBS must have matching architectures (for example, both 64-bit) for the VLC source to be available.
- In OBS, add VLC Video from the Sources panel and load the files in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties.
- Test transitions between files and the transition from the final file back to the first. Confirm that the audio does not become unexpectedly silent or change level between tracks.
OBS documents these options in its Media Sources guide and Sources guide. A repeating source is what makes the audio loop; simply arranging tracks in a list does not by itself guarantee that the list will repeat.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream’s Server URL and Stream key from YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not post it or include it in a public screenshot.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service if available, and enter the stream key. If OBS asks for a server, use the Live Control Room’s server URL. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain how to obtain and use these connection details.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the preview in YouTube Live Control Room, inspect the picture and audio, then start the broadcast in the Control Room when you are ready for viewers.
The exact labels may vary by OBS version or connection method; use the server URL and key shown for that specific YouTube stream. YouTube’s encoder setup guide covers creating, scheduling, and connecting a stream.

Test the stream before making it public
Run a test long enough to check a full playlist cycle, not just the opening track. Verify:

- The playlist returns to the first item after the last item, or a single-file source restarts as expected.
- The visual is readable on both desktop and mobile, and does not imply rights or performer details you cannot substantiate.
- The YouTube preview shows the expected audio and image before you make the broadcast public.
- A local recording is being saved if you need an archive or backup.
YouTube’s livestream tips recommend checking the preview, accessibility, local archive, and audio/video quality. Describe the traditions, languages, performers, and recording sources accurately where known, and distinguish original recordings from licensed third-party material.
Plan for continuity and archives
A loop is not an indefinite YouTube broadcast
OBS can repeat the audio source, but that does not mean YouTube guarantees one broadcast will remain connected forever. Plan the stream as a sequence of sessions with someone responsible for checking the encoder, YouTube Live Control Room, and any rights warnings, plus a procedure for reconnecting after a drop.

Keep an archive backup if the recording matters
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. The 12-hour guidance is from YouTube Help; the page does not state a publication year. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording backup. Do not depend on the YouTube archive as the only copy of a long-running broadcast. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.

A looping playlist is not automatically eligible for monetization. YouTube’s monetization policy applies to livestreams and says reused material without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value may be ineligible. Reviewers assess the channel as a whole, and passing the reused-content review does not resolve separate copyright requirements. Make your own contribution and curation clear, but do not assume that adding a visual or arranging tracks will make a music stream monetizable. See YouTube channel monetization policies.
