To make a 24/7 lofi hip hop radio stream on YouTube, clear the music and artwork rights, assemble a continuous mix or matched playlist, send it to YouTube Live with an encoder, and test the full loop before making it public. A local encoder such as OBS gives you direct control but needs a computer and internet connection to stay available. A cloud service can keep the uploaded program running remotely. The key work is not just starting the stream: it is avoiding rights problems, abrupt loop seams, and interruptions.
1. Enable YouTube live streaming before production day
Check live access in YouTube Studio before preparing a long program. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and its guidance sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until launch day. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
2. Clear music rights before making the mix
Permission must cover the actual use: continuous YouTube livestreaming, and any recording or monetization you plan. Owning an audio file, crediting its creator, or seeing “royalty-free” in a title does not by itself establish those rights.
Use music you can document
- For original music, confirm that samples, loops, and other contributors in the production chain are also cleared.
- For commissioned tracks, put permitted channels, uses, territories, and monetization rights in a written agreement.
- For a third-party music library, read the current license for continuous livestreaming and any VOD or monetization use. Keep the license terms, invoice, source URL, and track list.
YouTube identifies music and sound effects in its Audio Library as copyright-safe for use on YouTube. Some tracks carry Creative Commons terms and require attribution in the video description; use the attribution text provided by the library. YouTube says it cannot vouch for “royalty-free” music from other channels or libraries. This is platform guidance, not legal advice about uses outside YouTube. Even a valid license does not guarantee that automated systems will never flag a track or interrupt a broadcast.

3. Build a mix and visual that loop cleanly
You can prepare one longer mixed file or a playlist of separate tracks. A single mix is simpler to sequence and review; separate files make it easier to replace an individual track. With a playlist, keep the files technically consistent and listen to every handoff.
Check the audio and video
- Keep loudness reasonably consistent so listeners are not surprised by jumps between tracks.
- Listen to the final transition back to the beginning. Remove silence, clicks, or an abrupt change in level at the boundary.
- Use a visual you created, commissioned, or have a license to use. If it animates, check the last frame against the first so the loop does not visibly jump.
- Do not copy another channel’s recognizable character, scene, or branding.
These are production checks, not YouTube technical requirements. A sample starting export described in StreamNeo’s lofi setup guide is MP4 with H.264 video, AAC stereo audio, 1080p at 30 frames per second, and a two-second keyframe interval.

4. Choose how to keep the stream running

YouTube supports both software encoders running on computers and hardware encoders. OBS is available at no charge, but a local setup still uses your own hardware, electricity, and internet connection. 5. Set up a local OBS stream
- Create the YouTube broadcast: Open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live, then set up or select the stream in Live Control Room. Make sure you are working on the intended channel.
- Copy the ingest details: In YouTube’s stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the connection details. Treat the key like a password; do not publish or share it.
- Prepare a continuous program: Add the prepared video or playlist to the OBS scene using the appropriate media source. Configure playback to loop if you are using a single file. Confirm that the scene shows the intended artwork and that the audio meters respond.
- Configure output and connection: Use YouTube’s encoder recommendations below as a starting point, and choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain with headroom. YouTube recommends RTMPS; select it where your encoder’s YouTube connection settings offer it.
- Start privately first: Start streaming from OBS and wait for YouTube’s preview and stream-health status. Confirm the audio, visual, channel, and program before making the broadcast public through Live Control Room. The exact controls can vary with the current YouTube Studio workflow.
YouTube’s encoder settings and live-streaming guidance lists H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), a recommended two-second keyframe interval, and AAC or MP3 audio. Its recommended H.264 bitrate is 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 4 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are configuration recommendations, not guarantees that a particular connection will be stable. Match quality to your upload connection and test before launch; YouTube transcodes streams for viewers.
6. Test the actual program, then monitor it
Before a public launch, run an unlisted test long enough to hear several track transitions and the end-to-start boundary. Use audio and movement representative of the real program. YouTube advises creators to monitor stream health and review messages in Live Control Room.

- Listen for silence, clipping, volume jumps, and gaps at track changes.
- Watch for frozen video, a visible loop seam, or the wrong scene.
- Confirm the stream is on the correct channel and that track credits are present where required.
- Check playback on a mobile device as well as your computer.
- During operation, periodically inspect encoder warnings, stream health, chat, and copyright notices. Keep the source files and rights records accessible in case you need to replace a track.
A 24/7 broadcast is longer than YouTube’s stated automatic-archive window. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that does not promise a complete recording of a continuous stream longer than 12 hours. If preserving the full program matters, keep your source files or make a separate recording, and consider publishing edited mixes separately. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

7. Understand monetization limits
Being able to livestream does not mean a channel is eligible to monetize. YouTube says YouTube Partner Program members can monetize live streams, and its Audio Library guidance says YPP members can monetize videos containing its music and sound effects. Check current eligibility and feature availability in YouTube Studio; these sources do not establish what a new channel will earn. 8. Troubleshoot common problems
