To loop Malayalam gospel songs on YouTube Live, add your locally stored, rights-cleared songs to OBS’s VLC Video source, enable Loop Playlist, and send OBS to YouTube using an encoder stream URL and stream key. VLC must be installed on the computer running OBS. For one song, OBS’s built-in Media Source with Loop enabled is simpler.

What you need before setting up the playlist

  • A computer running OBS and VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC; OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source to appear.
  • Local audio or video files for the songs, arranged in the order you want them to play.
  • A verified YouTube channel that is eligible to live stream. YouTube says encoder streaming requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; check your channel’s current status in YouTube Studio.
  • Permission to stream each recording. A song’s gospel subject, public availability on YouTube, or inclusion in a playlist does not establish that you have the necessary rights.

OBS’s documented VLC workflow uses media files on your computer. The official materials do not establish a reliable way to import a YouTube Music or arbitrary YouTube playlist directly into an OBS VLC source.

Loop several songs with OBS VLC Video

  1. Install VLC. Install it on the same computer as OBS, matching the architecture: use 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS.
  2. Open or create the scene. In OBS, select the scene that will carry the music broadcast.
  3. Add the playlist source. In the Sources panel, choose + and select VLC Video. Name the source if useful, then add the local media files you want in the playlist.
  4. Set the order and repeat behavior. Arrange the files in the desired sequence and enable Loop Playlist. Leave shuffle off for a fixed order; enable it only if you want playback order randomized.
  5. Check the scene output. Play the source and confirm that the audio is audible, any video appears as intended, and the playlist advances from one item to the next. Let it reach the end and verify that it starts again.

OBS describes Loop Playlist as restarting the source when it reaches the end of its media list. Test with the same kinds of files you intend to broadcast: playback can depend on the specific file and codec.

Loop a single song instead

If the broadcast uses one local file repeatedly, add OBS’s built-in Media Source, select the file, and enable Loop. This avoids setting up a VLC playlist. OBS lists support for formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC, and WAV; test your specific file before relying on it for a live event.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or select an encoder stream and locate its stream URL and stream key.
  2. Enter the encoder details in OBS. In OBS’s stream settings, enter the stream URL and stream key supplied by YouTube. YouTube recommends RTMPS when configuring an encoder connection.
  3. Protect the key. Treat the stream key like a password: YouTube uses it to identify where the encoder should send the feed and to accept that feed. Do not share it publicly.
  4. Check the preview before the event. Start the OBS feed and wait for it to appear in the Live Control Room preview. Confirm the song audio and any video are correct before starting the public event.
  5. Monitor the broadcast. Watch OBS and YouTube’s stream health and listen to the audio while live. YouTube recommends testing before an event and monitoring the stream during it.

Choose quality and upload bandwidth

Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance and your available upload capacity rather than treating one bitrate as universal. As one specific example, YouTube’s encoder table recommends 10 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p/30 fps; this is a recommendation for that format and frame rate, not a requirement for every stream. YouTube also recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. These figures are YouTube recommendations, not measured guarantees of performance on a particular connection.

Check music rights before going live

YouTube scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects such content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the content remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream.

Behringer XENYX 802S Premium Analog 8-Input Mixer with USB Streaming Interface
  • Analog mixing and equalization for pure sound
  • Direct mixing of PC/gaming sounds into the streaming output
  • Ultra-low noise analog mixer for streaming, podcasting and recording
  • Stereo USB audio interface to connect your computer or mobile device

Permission and YouTube’s Content ID handling are separate checks. YouTube says even licensed third-party content may interrupt a live stream unless the rights holder has added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm permission for every recording and, where relevant, ask the owner about allowlisting before broadcasting. A license alone does not guarantee that a live stream will avoid interruption.

Troubleshooting an OBS song loop

Problem Likely cause What to check
VLC Video is missing from the Sources menu VLC is not installed, or its architecture does not match OBS. Install VLC on the OBS computer; for 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC, then reopen OBS.
The playlist stops after the last song Loop Playlist is not enabled. Open the VLC Video source properties and enable Loop Playlist; test the full playlist through its end.
Songs play in an unexpected order Playlist order or shuffle setting is not what you intended. Arrange the entries in the intended sequence and keep shuffle off for fixed-order playback.
The single file does not repeat The Media Source Loop option is off, or the chosen file is not playing as expected. Enable Loop in the Media Source properties and test the file before the broadcast.
YouTube does not show the OBS feed The encoder stream URL or key may be incorrect, or the channel may not be eligible for encoder streaming. Compare OBS’s stream settings with the current details in YouTube Studio, check channel eligibility, and confirm the feed in the Live Control Room preview.
The live stream is interrupted during a song YouTube may have detected third-party content, or the channel may lack Content ID allowlisting for licensed material. Review the rights for the recording and contact the rights holder about allowlisting. Do not assume a license alone prevents interruption.
The feed is unstable or loses quality The connection may not have enough upload capacity for the chosen bitrate. Use YouTube’s encoder recommendations for your resolution and frame rate, and leave the recommended 20% bandwidth headroom.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want Malayalam gospel recordings to keep looping without leaving your home computer on, StreamNeo runs an uploaded playlist in the cloud and sends it to YouTube. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed.
