To loop a luxury home listing video on YouTube Live, use OBS Studio as the encoder: add a single video as a Media Source and enable Loop, or add several videos as a VLC Video playlist and enable Loop Playlist. Then connect OBS to a YouTube Live stream with your stream key, check the preview and audio, and monitor the broadcast. For a cloud-based alternative that does not depend on a computer running at home, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos to YouTube Live.
Before you set up the live feed
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube’s current getting-started guidance says a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and meet the minimum age requirement of 16. Check the channel’s status and eligibility in YouTube Studio before planning a broadcast: YouTube live streaming requirements.
Clear every asset for live use
Confirm you have the necessary rights to the listing footage, music, narration, photographs, and any other material in the feed. Check that those rights cover both the live broadcast and any archived recording. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can cause a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Even licensed material can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. YouTube explains its copyright processes and possible routes such as permission, public domain, or a Creative Commons license, but none guarantees that you will avoid a claim or strike: YouTube copyright basics and YouTube Terms of Service.
Choose how OBS will repeat the listing video
| What you want to play | OBS source | Loop setting | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| One video file repeatedly | Media Source | Enable Loop | Use a video file available to OBS on the computer. |
| Several files in sequence | VLC Video | Enable Loop Playlist | Install VLC for the VLC Video source to appear in OBS. |
The OBS documentation describes the Media Source setting as: “Loop — Specifies whether the file play again once playback has completed.” The cited documentation does not establish a quality, reliability, or uptime advantage for either source. See the OBS Media Sources guide (dated January 11, 2022; the interface may change).

Set up a single looping video in OBS
- Add the source: In OBS, select a scene, then use the Sources panel’s + control and choose Media Source. Create a new source or select an existing one.
- Choose the file: In the source properties, enable the local-file option if shown, then browse to the listing video.
- Enable repetition: Turn on Loop in the Media Source properties, then confirm the source. The video should restart when playback reaches its end.
- Check the scene: Confirm the video fits the canvas and that its audio appears in OBS’s mixer. Make sure other sources or overlays do not obscure important listing details.
Set up a looping playlist in OBS
- Install VLC: Install VLC on the computer running OBS if the VLC Video source is unavailable.
- Add the source: In the chosen scene, select the Sources panel’s + control and choose VLC Video.
- Build the sequence: Add the listing video files to the source playlist in the order you want them played. Check that each file is accessible from that computer.
- Loop the playlist: Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties, then confirm. Check playback through the end of the sequence to verify it returns to the first file.
- Review transitions and audio: Watch the change between files and listen for abrupt level changes, silence, or audio that continues unexpectedly. Adjust the source or edit the files if needed before going live.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Create or select a live stream: Open YouTube Studio and create a live stream or choose the one you intend to use. Follow YouTube’s current live-streaming setup guidance for the available options.
- Copy the stream key into OBS: Enter the stream key in OBS’s stream settings for the YouTube connection. YouTube describes stream keys as the stream’s password and address; keep yours private and do not show it in a recording or screenshot. Use YouTube’s live stream settings guidance if you need to manage the key.
- Preview before starting: Start the encoder preview or send the feed as directed by the current YouTube and OBS workflow. Check that the intended scene, picture, and sound reach YouTube before making the broadcast public or starting the stream.
- Verify the watch page: Confirm that the stream is accessible as intended and that audio and video remain usable. Continue monitoring the broadcast rather than assuming a successful start means it will run unattended without interruption.
Plan for long-running listing streams
Monitor playback and the archive
YouTube recommends checking preview and watch-page availability, archive files, and ongoing audio and video quality. These checks help identify playback or connection problems; they are operational practices, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. For an OBS setup, keep an eye on the computer, the encoder, the source files, and the broadcast while the stream runs.
Set realistic expectations about DVR
YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for very long streams, including streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise viewers they can rewind to the start of the stream or to a particular listing segment. Check YouTube’s DVR guidance when setting viewer expectations.

Treat monetization as conditional
Eligible creators may have access to live ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and memberships, depending on eligibility and settings. YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed, so do not treat them as assured revenue from a looping listing feed. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

- The video stops at the end: Open the Media Source properties and check that Loop is enabled. For several files, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source instead.
- VLC Video is missing: Install VLC on the computer running OBS, then reopen or refresh OBS and check the source list again.
- A playlist item will not play: Confirm the file is still at the path OBS expects and that the computer can open it. Remove or replace inaccessible files, then test the complete sequence before going live.
- YouTube shows a placeholder or interrupts the feed: A third-party content match may be involved. Review the rights for the matched footage, music, or other asset, and resolve any Content ID issue with the relevant rights owner; a license alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- The preview is wrong or has no sound: Check that the intended scene and source are active, that the source is visible, and that its audio reaches the OBS mixer. Recheck the YouTube preview before starting the public broadcast.
- The stream does not appear as expected: Verify that OBS is connected to the intended YouTube stream and that the stream key was entered correctly. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, manage or replace it through YouTube Studio’s current stream settings.
