To loop one prerecorded jewellery product video in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. To rotate several videos, add them to an OBS VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Then connect OBS to YouTube Live Control Room with the stream URL and key, check the preview, and click Go live.
Choose the right OBS source
| What you want to play | OBS source | What to set | Requirement or caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| One product video repeatedly | Media Source | Select the local video file and enable Loop. | Built into OBS; VLC is not required. |
| Several product videos in a chosen sequence | VLC Video | Add the files to its playlist, arrange their order, and enable Loop Playlist. | VLC must be installed. With 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC as well. |
OBS Media Source supports common formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM. In a VLC Video playlist, Shuffle Playlist is off by default, so clips play in the order you set unless you change it. OBS documents Loop Playlist as the control that specifies whether a source should restart after it runs out of media files.
Prepare the product videos and rights
- Keep the files accessible. Put the video files in a stable folder on the computer running OBS. If you move or rename a file after selecting it in OBS, check the source path before going live.
- Review the full video and audio. Confirm that the shop has the rights needed for the product footage, music, voiceover, and any other included material. YouTube places responsibility for necessary rights on the live-stream provider, including music rights, and archived streams can also be subject to copyright claims.
- Check the product presentation. Make sure the jewellery is framed clearly, the details are legible at the intended stream size, and any spoken descriptions or on-screen claims are accurate. Test the finished scene rather than relying only on the source file.
YouTube says archived streams may receive Content ID claims after a live broadcast ends. Permission to use a track in another context does not automatically establish that it is cleared for this stream; verify the rights that apply to your content.

- In OBS, choose the scene where the product video should appear.
- In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source.
- Name the source if useful, then select the local product video file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties and confirm the changes.
- Check the preview. Resize or reposition the source in the canvas if the product is cropped or too small.
Media Source is the simplest option for a single clip: OBS replays it when it reaches the end. If you want different products shown in turn, use a playlist instead of creating a separate looping source for each clip.

Set up a product-video playlist
- Install VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC so OBS can expose the VLC Video source.
- In the OBS scene, choose + in the Sources panel and select VLC Video.
- Add the product files to the playlist and arrange them in the order you want them shown.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a fixed sequence, or turn it on only if you want the order randomized.
- Check the preview and confirm that each clip displays properly before connecting to YouTube.
When using multiple OBS scenes
Check the VLC source’s visibility behavior if your scene collection switches between scenes. Depending on the source setting, hiding the source can stop playback and showing it again can restart playback. Test the actual scene changes you plan to use so a product clip does not unexpectedly stop or begin again.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or select an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In OBS, open Settings and then Stream. Choose the YouTube service and enter the stream URL and key in the appropriate fields; use the interface’s stream-key option if it presents the server and key separately.
- Save the settings, then select Start Streaming in OBS.
- Return to Live Control Room and wait for the incoming preview. Check both picture and audio, then click Go live when the preview and product framing are ready.
Treat the stream key as a credential: YouTube describes it as the encoder’s stream password and address. Do not publish it or place it in a public scene, screenshot, or chat. The OBS loop controls local playback; YouTube Live Control Room controls the encoder connection and when the broadcast becomes live.

Check eligibility, monitor the stream, and end it safely
- Channel eligibility: YouTube says live-stream access requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Its general eligibility page also states streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check the shop’s account status in YouTube Studio before planning the broadcast.
- Preflight: YouTube recommends setting up well ahead of the event and monitoring audio and video continuously. Start early enough to see the incoming preview, inspect the first clip, and catch playback or sound problems before customers are relying on the stream.
- Network: Prepare and check the encoder computer’s network connection. An Ethernet cable is an optional way to connect that computer to the router if the setup supports it; YouTube’s guidance does not make it mandatory or promise a specific improvement.
- Ending: End the broadcast in Live Control Room and stop the encoder in OBS. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; check the current interface and settings for the specific stream.
Troubleshooting OBS product-video loops
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| VLC Video does not appear in the source menu | VLC is missing or its architecture is incompatible with OBS. | Install VLC; if OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC, then reopen OBS and check the source menu again. |
| A clip plays once and stops | The repeat setting is not enabled. | For a single file, open Media Source properties and enable Loop. For multiple files, enable Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source. |
| The playlist plays in an unexpected order | Files are ordered differently than intended or shuffle is enabled. | Review the playlist order and turn off Shuffle Playlist for a fixed sequence. |
| Playback stops or starts over when changing scenes | The VLC source’s visibility behavior is affecting playback. | Review the source’s visibility behavior and test scene changes before going live. |
| YouTube does not show an incoming preview | OBS may not be connected to the selected YouTube stream. | Confirm OBS is streaming, verify that the URL and key match the stream selected in Live Control Room, and check the current connection status in both applications. |
| The preview appears but the broadcast is not public | The encoder feed has arrived, but the broadcast has not been started in Live Control Room. | Check the preview, then select Go live in Live Control Room. |
| The stream has picture but no usable sound | The source or OBS audio mix may not be sending the intended audio. | Check the clip’s audio in OBS and the Live Control Room preview before starting the public broadcast. |
