If you’re already signed in on an Apple device, open Sign-In & Security to see the email addresses and phone numbers you can use to sign in. If not, check Apple apps and services, Apple’s sign-in page, Family Sharing, or your email inbox. Apple now calls an Apple ID an Apple Account; your existing sign-in details still work.
Check a device where you’re already signed in
Apple’s quickest lookup is often a device that still has your account signed in. The listed email addresses and phone numbers are available sign-in identifiers, so the account may use a different one than you remember as primary.

On iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Sign-In & Security to see the email addresses and phone numbers available for sign-in.
On Mac
- Open the Apple menu and choose System Settings.
- Click your name.
- Choose Sign-In & Security to see the available email addresses and phone numbers.
On a Windows PC
Open iCloud for Windows. Look beneath your name for the primary email address or phone number.
Apple’s menu names and layout can vary by software version and region.

If you don’t have a signed-in device
Try these lookup routes before assuming you need to create a new account:
- Check Apple apps: See whether you’re signed in to the App Store, FaceTime, or Messages on an Apple device.
- Check Apple’s sign-in page: Visit account.apple.com and see whether the sign-in screen remembers your email address or phone number.
- Ask a Family Sharing member: A family member can look for your account information in their Family Sharing settings.
- Search your email: Look for Apple receipts or messages about repairs, support, or billing. These may show the address associated with your account.
Apple says any email address or phone number on file can be used to sign in. If you have several possibilities, try the familiar addresses and numbers you may have associated with Apple.

If you found the identifier but forgot the password
Looking up the email or phone number tells you what to use as your sign-in identifier; it does not reset the password. If you know the identifier but can’t remember the password, Apple recommends starting with a trusted device. If you can’t reset it that way, Apple may ask for another recovery factor, such as your trusted phone number, a recovery contact code, the account email, an associated credit card, or a recovery key or security key.
