You can run a relaxing-music livestream with an encoder that sends your music and a still or looping visual to YouTube. Before starting, confirm your channel can go live, obtain permission that covers livestream use and any replay, and test the encoder, audio, video, and internet connection. YouTube does not guarantee that a stream will stay online indefinitely, so plan to monitor it and respond to interruptions.
What you need for a YouTube relaxing-music livestream
For music paired with a still image or looping visual, use an encoder-based setup. YouTube describes encoders as suitable for streams with graphics and production equipment; a computer running encoding software is one option. You do not need to assume a particular computer specification from YouTube’s guidance. You will also need a visual, music you are authorized to use for this purpose, an internet connection with enough upload capacity, and access to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
YouTube supports several ways to go live, including mobile, webcam, encoder, and console methods. The encoder route is the relevant choice when you need to combine a music bed with a prepared visual. None of these methods guarantees a 24/7 stream or automatic recovery.

Check that your channel can go live
Before preparing the broadcast, open YouTube Studio and check the Live Control Room. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Eligibility does not clear music rights or guarantee that a particular stream will be allowed. See YouTube’s overview of live streaming for current requirements and available methods.

Get music rights for the actual livestream
You are responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast the music live. YouTube’s livestream terms specifically include music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Keep written permission or license terms and verify that they cover YouTube livestream performance, the territories you intend to reach, monetization if applicable, and an archived replay if you plan to leave one available. Read YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions.
Check Content ID handling before you go live
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; continued use can lead to interruption or termination. If you have permission to use third-party music, ask the rights owner whether your channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist before the broadcast. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. YouTube explains this in its live-streaming copyright guidance.

Do not treat ordinary video permissions as live permissions
A music subscription, a “royalty-free” label, or permission for standard uploads does not by itself establish that live use is covered. Check the terms for the exact track and use. In particular, YouTube says Creator Music revenue-sharing videos cannot be livestreams; do not use that program as evidence that a track is cleared for a live broadcast. See YouTube’s Creator Music guidance.

Set up the encoder and preview the broadcast
- Create or configure the live stream in YouTube Studio. Use the Live Control Room to set up the stream and locate its stream key and server URL. YouTube describes the stream key as the credential that directs your encoder’s feed to your stream. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. The current setup details are in YouTube’s encoder settings help.
- Enter the stream details in your encoder. Add the server URL and stream key where the encoder requests them, then select the prepared audio and visual sources. Exact control names differ by encoder, so use that software’s instructions for its input and output settings rather than assuming one universal menu path.
- Prepare the visual and audio. Confirm that the still image or loop displays as intended and the music plays without clipping, silence, or unwanted gaps. Listen to the actual outgoing feed, not only a local source preview.
- Start an encoder test and inspect YouTube’s preview. Check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Verify the picture, music level, and watch-page playback from the viewer’s side.
- Decide who will monitor and respond. For a long-running broadcast, establish who will check audio, video, encoder status, and network behavior, and what they will do if the feed fails. YouTube recommends configuring the encoder ahead of time and continuously monitoring stream quality; its guidance does not promise automatic restart.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
Plan enough upload bandwidth
Your total outgoing stream bitrate needs to fit within the upload bandwidth actually available to the streaming computer. YouTube recommends leaving 20% room between the total stream bitrate and available upload capacity. Include other traffic on the connection, and include both primary and backup stream traffic if you are sending both. A network disruption can break the stream; a speed result at a quiet moment is not a guarantee of continuous service. Review YouTube’s network and encoder guidance.
A wired Ethernet connection is an optional practical choice for connecting a computer to a network, not a YouTube requirement or a guarantee against drops. Whatever connection you use, check that it has sufficient upload capacity and decide how you will monitor it.

Test the whole chain before calling it 24/7
- Confirm the selected music and visual are the ones you are authorized and intend to broadcast.
- Check the encoder’s outgoing feed and the Live Control Room preview for picture, sound, and continuity.
- Open the viewer-facing watch page and confirm it plays as expected.
- Check the actual network and encoder behavior, and leave room for other upload traffic.
- Make a practical monitoring and recovery plan for stream, computer, and connection failures.
A successful test demonstrates that the setup worked during the test; it cannot prove that a stream will remain uninterrupted indefinitely. YouTube’s help material does not establish a universal maximum duration or continuous-availability guarantee. Check your channel’s current live controls and YouTube’s current policies before relying on a continuous format.

Troubleshooting common problems
You cannot start a live stream
Check verification status, whether the channel has a live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days, and the age requirement. Review the Live Control Room for account-specific prompts; being eligible does not resolve rights questions for the music.

The encoder feed does not appear in YouTube
Confirm that the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key for the stream you created, and that the encoder is sending. Keep the key private; if you believe someone else has access, manage the stream credentials in YouTube Studio before using them again.
The stream shows a placeholder or is interrupted
YouTube may have detected third-party content. Stop and review the match and your rights. If the music is licensed, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting for your channel; do not assume a license automatically prevents enforcement.
The stream drops or playback becomes unstable
Check the encoder and network, including whether total stream bitrate fits available upload capacity with the recommended 20% room and whether other devices are using the connection. YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream. Restore the feed, then verify the preview and viewer-facing playback rather than assuming recovery occurred.
